Vandalism Alerts

If you look at individual guest thoughts you'll see them react to vandalized objects and you can click the little location button next to the thought to get taken straight to it. You're idea is a lot less tedious though.

BTW, if you set a mechanic or two on work zones that force them to follow guest paths, the mechanics will fix the vandalized objects. If you don't set the work zones for this, mechanics will spend a lot of time on staff paths, going between habitat repairs, which means they don't pass (and therefore don't fix) things on visitor paths.

Just rethinking how you set up your mechanics can save you a lot of tedium. Setting some mechanics to repairing everything but not habitats, and defining their work zones with mostly atm's and restrooms (and perhaps transformers and water treatment that are conveniently off the visitor paths) only will keep them mostly on guest paths and those mechanics will repair pretty much everything vandalized in your zoo if you give them enough time and don't make them do a lot of other stuff.

Instead of giving the mechanics an habitat in their work zone, it's better to let them patrol between two staff buildings. They will repair everything on their way, and get a rest easier when they are close to a staff house. Normally, if they are not on research, and don't have to much to do, they will repair barriers too while patrolling.

That doesn't work as well for vandalism repairs as it does for habitat repairs though if you use a zoo layout that is more natural and involves guest paths that go off of main paths a ways to get to viewing areas unless you go out of your way to connect your staff paths to the staff rooms to those side areas. Mechanics going between staff rooms will not branch out to those side visitor areas and thus won't see or fix anything vandalized in those areas.

It obviously depends on the style in which you design your zoo, but when you do a more natural approach and have visitor paths that branch and the like, if you don't want to have to deal with vandalized objects yourself, you need to define mechanic work zones by things that are in those visitor areas. Or you can just keep your visitors happier so things don't get vandalized, obviously. :) That's usually my primary tactic.

I agree. I would love for it to appear in the heat map views. Maybe the Education tab would make it some other color or red for the broken education items. The speakers are so tiny it is hard to spot them being broken (only way is to click on a lot of guests and spot their thoughts. IMPROVED over Planet Coaster so I thank for this!)

As for the benches and bins, maybe add it to the "negative impression" on guests heat map? Like the staff facilities?
