I play some games where you are in a forest or jungle, and I find it very immersive when the vegetation is dense.
Some of the games I believe generate the vegetation on the fly. The problem becomes an issue when you are in a MP game and can see the jungle from above too. Some of the areas are premade maps, so its not made on the fly by ProGen.
Are there any game out there today, where the forest or jungle covers a wast area and you can enter the area by foot (FPS) too?
From a game development POV the cover of the forest could be made by a green cover so you can't see the movements on the ground, and when you get on the ground a more detailed environment will be generated?
This video are from Arma Apex, from air to ground.

I was wondering how this could be done in a game as large as in ED, will one of the solutions be to make sectors or maps, and then combine them on a sphere (planet) or will a on the fly generation be needed to solve the problem.
In Prepare3d you can fly around the world, however all the areas are premade and take a huge amount of storage on your SSD / HD.
