Very impressed : FDL in VR (Rift CV1)

Hi all,

I have to make a big compliment to the dev's.

The FDL has a big sun roof; docked at a spaceport is very impressing, you can see
the ships coming in, landing and take off.
For me the FDL is one of the most beautiful ships in VR.

At the moment I am docked at Whitson Orbital LP 339-7 for the CG and you can see the nearby planet
through the entrance orbiting, amazing.

Well done [up][up][up]

Actually, I noticed the very same thing, I didn't realise it had such an awesome view of there - quite handy in combat!

Z...

I've never owned one... perhaps its time I took a jaunt down to the local showroom :p

*EDIT* - you're right, the FdL cockpit is nice - very flash. But the pilot is sitting on the wrong side! :(

If you think the FDL looks great in VR just wait until you get in the Courier. The big canopy above you with the beautiful blue light interior is just fantastic. The Asp is also great as you can see through your feet making landings very cool. Oh and the Vulture has a big canopy on it as well, and the Type 9 - turn around and look behind you, the space is HUGE. There's a door that opens to a hall/room and stair cases to the seats on the lower level. The Anaconda bridge is just huge and the gloss of the Orca and Beluga is also great. And.....

And, well, they ALL look fantastic don't they? Have you been in the SRV yet? Drive one around on a planet next to or in a base, the scale of the buildings is incredible. If you're in a big ship land and deploy, you have no idea how big the ships are until you're next to them in an SRV.

Just too much great stuff in this game when it comes to VR. I describe it to non-VR players like this "you're playing a very pretty game with great graphics on a nice monitor. I'm flying a f'ing space ship. Which do you think is better?" I know that sounds extreme but us VR players know it isn't.

iClipper is dissapoint in VR. It's so... empty! Feels like i could fit 10t of cargo there, so much wasted space.

The bridge of the Anaconda is large enough to park a Sidewinder (and in VR you KNOW this!), and the cockpit of the Asp Explorer has so much glasswork (although T series vessels have more) that you really feel out there in space. Meanwhile the cockpit of the Sidewinder is so cramped I daren't stand up (in case I crack my head open).

Love the FDL. It is truly a fun ship to joust in. As an explorer though, nothing beats skimming a planet's surface in the ASP with it's open floor. Landing on a "strange new world" never gets old.
