Very impressed with Rift CV

I bought the Rift CV1 and came back after a year of absence from the game. Totally blown away, the game has such immense impact when you can actually look over your shoulder where the enemy went (except in a Cobra. There's just furniture in a Cobra...) I'm finding myself standing up for a better view out of the canopy when landing etc. It's very intuitive and quite simply a lot of fun.

Oh, motion sickness? Not a problem for me, whew.

The one thing I am hating is the galactic map interface. I would love to just be able to lift the goggles and interact with the map on my computer screen as a fallback, but that doesn't really help with the way it's set up.

I got my CV1 two days ago, and I'm also blown away by the impact of the game in VR.

As for the galaxy and system maps, I kind of wish they were integrated into the in-ship HUD, though I imagine they would have much smaller interfaces if they were. It might be cool if it popped up similar to starport services.

Greetings CMDR's, glad you are enjoying ED in the Rift, I'm 6 months in with it and still loving it. Sadly I have some enforced downtime atm while I resolder some of the wires on my HOTAS throttle.
For the galaxy and system maps, you really need to have different controls when in VR as opposed to been on a monitor. I re-bound all my controls to joystick and throttle and I can whizz around the maps just as easily as before. Don't use the mouse to try and point at things as it just does not work, navigate by the circle instead.
Hope this helps some, there are plenty of threads on this forum with peoples solutions to the galaxy map and system map in VR, so you may find one that works for you.

Thanks, I will definitely look at that later. Right now I'm just having too much fun flying in LP 339-7 so don't need the map for a bit ;)
