The article says that if there is any practical application, it is largely educational. When I read that, I instantly was reminded of Sky Travel for the C=64. I know I'd be interested in buying a modern version of that if Frontier were willing to develop it. It wouldn't have alien races, artifacts to find or combat, of course.

Good article but it needed someone to proofread it.
