Very smart AI

Took what I thought was going to be a simple mission last night: Fly to a neighbouring system and kill two traders. Yep, nice and easy, I had been in the target system, and knew there were lost of Haulers, Type 6/7/9 that were wanted, should be a nice and quick mission for a profit of around 54,000 C (plus bounties).

Well damn was I wrong. Entered the system, straight to the Nav Beacon and started scanning. Oh lots of ships matching the requirements, even coming up with "target Ship" in the scan - but they were all clean. Now I kind of have morals, I really don't like killing cleanskins and I really don't like getting a bounty on my head. So I waited and killed what wanted ships were around. And I wait and I waited. After 30 minutes, not one wanted trader had appeared. So off to try some USS sites, same thing. Even tried flying between the beacon and the only station in the system, hoping to pull a wanted trader out of SC - nope all clean.

Eventually had to bite the built and take out two clean ships and then beat a hasty retreat as it seemed every security ship in the galaxy suddenly descended on my area. Now I can't go into that system for 7 days and wasted over an hour for a measly 54K!

But in hindsight, it does prove how smart the AI is in this game. I guarantee I could go back there today and every second trading ship would be wanted. The game now encourages you to make somewhat moral choices, I could have easily abandoned the mission and not kill an innocent or to what I ended up doing. I like that, well done FD!

Wanted transport ships generally aren't classified as Traders - they're Smugglers, which is a separate mission category (though not all smugglers are Wanted).

Traders don't tend to be criminals, and will pretty much always be Clean - so if you don't like taking out innocents, avoid those missions.
