Newcomer / Intro Very, very, very ANGRY with the NPC,s level!!!!

I am in the game since a year and a half. I have to say that I do not play very often. With the time, I succeed buying a Phyton. All modules were A ones. After some days doing cargo Exchange in order to have the money for the insurance and to start the race to purchase an Anaconda... An NPC Phyton interdicted me; no way submitting the engine, had to cool down as I didn't submit. 5 seconds later, my shields were down, I tried to boost but he kept close to me. So, 10 seconds later, some mines and chaf fired, he blowed me up! I had no chance... I know I am not an expert and that I am not investing thousand hours of my life in the game, but I always expected to have the chance to grow up little by little. I usually play solo mode. I always dreamt to have an Anaconda, but after they killed me yesterday and used the insurance, I parked my Phyton because I do not want to lose the 105.000.000 cr. it worths. I returned to a Cobra and tried to do small missions. Now my money is almost zero, and I hate to start as a new player.

Please Frontier guys, if you read this post try to balance the NPC level. It's very, very, very sad and annoying seeing all your credits and your best ship blow up without a chance against the computer! How we are supposed to grow in the game?

The NPCs are now tied to the highest of either your combat rank (they get a bonus if one of your other ranks is higher than combat) or in the case of missions the target rank of the mission and they have changed a lot in the last few months.
If you earned most of your combat rank before the update to versions 1.6/2.1 then you should seriously consider asking support to reset your combat rank this would leave you with your current ship(s) and credits but you would be matched against lower ranked NPCs allowing you to learn the new skills required as you start to rank up again.
If you browse through this bit of the forums you will find lots of excellent advice and videos on how to deal with Interdictions if they happen and what to do to reduce the likelihood of being Interdicted.

That is the way of Elite: Dangerous. If you play in Open Games, this may happen to you more often with other players doing the same. We love this game for intelligent enemies and walking on the edge all of the time!

No chance to run, no chance to fight back, no chance to progress at lower levels without running hundreds maybe thousands of missions for 2K-5K credits?

I too have tried running missions with decent amount (100K - 300K) of credits although with a much less expensive (T6) ship. Had some NPC assigned to kill me. (I managed to kill a very slow moving guy that immediately reappeared as soon as I went into super cruise?! I guess you do "Only Live Twice"). You can't escape them. Once you get the message someone is looking for you there is no jumping, star hopping, or maneuver that will get him off of you. Maybe if you are right next to your intended delivery point but I'm not sure that will work either. Tried running, his first pass took my shields completely, boost did not take me out of range, second pass took engines and any chance to run and then a destroyed ship. Happened three times in a row with loss of all cargo. The one time I managed to get to a friendly system with him right behind me he still could not be taken down with two federal ships and me trying. He just jumped out and came back when I went into super-cruise. Lost around a million credits in about 10 minutes in those three attempts. At the amounts per run you can make that equates to several hours and that is difficult for me to love. I would love having a chance, at least at lower levels, to progress to the tougher ones. I was trying to run the Trade Data/Black Box missions until four (4) ships started showing up to stop me. Again, no chance. At this point I don't think I would dare attempt one of the assassination or elimination missions. I doubt I would get a shot off.

It would be nice to have some higher paying low end missions or less interdictions at lower levels. Most of the time is spent flying around open space. As nice as that is it gets very monotonous. Throwing in a couple interdictions makes it interesting but, when you are flying a ship that can not fight back due to weak weapons and low maneuverability, and your ability to run is removed, that makes it frustrating. Add to that the incredible loss of credits at the lower levels along with the cargo and the cost of same and you feel like you are starting over all the time.

I'm not ready to give up on it quite yet. I do think it is a little unbalanced in the beginning. Watched tons of videos (most outdated now), read different posts (equally outdated). Problem with most is they are using ships that you, as a beginner, do not have access to. Some of the suggestions and methods won't work with the early ships. Still useful information but not entirely able to be implemented.

Then there are the training missions. You are given ships to "train" with that you do not have immediate (maybe not for a year) access to in game. Sort of like training with a P51 Mustang against WW1 biplanes then being issued a biplane to fight an F4 Phantom. It does not really give you any idea of what it is going to be like. The AI on the training missions is much weaker than what you run into. Would be nice to have a "training area" that allows you to use the ship you have or are thinking about purchasing to "test drive" without the loss of credits. At least in solo mode you could get an idea what you will be facing. If you go open all bets would be off but you would know that ahead of time.

Oh and I'm running in solo play. I wouldn't attempt open. Given my experience so far I may never. Too much loss for too little return. We'll see though.

If you need some help from other CMDRs on any weaknesses on your ships it is a good idea to save your loadout out at https://coriolis.io and copy and paste the http link here.

If you need tips against NPCs then at least watch the short videos on this post: HOT TIPS: Surviving Interdictions in the new era (1.6/2.1) aka 'Avoiding the Rebuy Screen'

If you are only carrying cargo, try to avoid shipping lanes, shown on the bottom left of your main HUD - when such lanes exist.

The first part of this 2014 video shows you how to avoid shipping lanes and decrease the interdiction rate (although at the time the video was produced there was no 'shipping lane' indicator on the HUD):

I was interdicted three times between the star and the destination station when running the More Imperial Warships CG (Solo). It's really excessive and annoying. I learned how to survive for the most part but it's really annoying when you killed two interdictors, took a lot of damage and the third one ambushes you seconds before you reach the station forcing you to jump out of the system and then spend another 3 minutes to fly to that station again, praying you're not going to be interdicted again.

I wonder who in FD thinks this is a good idea.

Sensible move. There are far too many threads started by players who have lost their new Python without enough credits to pay insurance.
I sold my mining Anaconda for the same reason you have parked your Python.
