Yutsah Convention begins in Manktas
-------------------------
September 23rd - 3304
------------------
Manktas
------------

Crowds begin forming in abundance in Jiushao Depot as the opening day of the Yutsah convention proceeds with electrifying momentum. Scheduled to last until September 29th, the Yutsah convention will host all manners of exotic exhibits from the cultures of neighboring systems. It matters not if you're a citizen of Manktas, or a traveller wandering through. You're invited to come join us in the festivities in Jiushao Depot, courtesy of Spearhead Charter.

To the readers not in the know, Spearhead Charter is experiencing a period of prosperity in the capital system of the Vestige, Manktas. Trade is flowing into Manktas at a booming rate, with merchant vessels from all around delivering goods. With this trade comes valuable resources to help the Spearhead Charter grow and provide more for all souls that live within the Vestige.

Spearhead Charter has extended gratitude towards Manktas Partners for their extensive aid in setting this festival up. Not only are they bringing in a wide selection of items from the Inovit system thanks to their trade pacts with the local factions, but they have provided the name for this convention; a celebration held by the Aristocrats of Inovit is called a Yutsah. Aristocrats of this feudal society will allow their citizens to mingle with citizens of other allying aristocrats for several days or even a week. The name was chosen to emphasise the primary aim of the convention, to allow Vestige citizens to indulge their curiosity in other cultures.

For an event like this, no place was more fitting than Jiushao Depot’s Royal Pavilion on Manktas 2, being the central hub of trade in the Vestige, . as well as housing the throne of the High Lord of the Vestige, Commodore Jakken Eardley. The High Lord will open the convention, inviting long term Spearhead supporting families from Yolen City for a banquet with esteemed guests from the Inovit system. His speech will be broadcast around the region. He announced the convention earlier this month.

We aim to bring a better way of life to the Vestige, and this includes breaking down the isolationist barriers that have existed in our past. The Yutsah convention will bring together many different cultures, and allow us all to grow from our differences.”

Jakken Eardley

It is unknown at the time of writing whether his daughter, Lyria Eardley (known as CMDR Eardley to the Pilots Federation) will make an appearance, though if she does she will surely take the opportunity to display her military role as a specialist pilot in the Royal Guard [SCRG].

The week is said to hold many different events, with exhibits cycling out each day at 20:00 UGT with new fresh and exciting content for attendees to experience. Culinary cuisines to sample and learn about, philosophical speakers to lend an ear to, stunning displays of artwork and much much more. Many of the goods ordered for the event are being dropped of at Fast Ring and ferried down to Jiushao Depot by Spearhead Charter officials. One of which, goes by the name of Talon Robigo (Known as CMDR RaptorMonkey by the Pilots Federation) who has been admirably putting in logistical work. Curious about the commitment, we've approached Talon for comment.

"The convention is a good opportunity to adjust and refocus to our new way of life under the charter. Giving us a ray of hope after the brutal civil war and a glimpse of a prosperous future we have ahead of us."

Talon Robigo

More high-level officials will be taking part in this event; in charge of security will be the First Officer of the SCRG, known by the alias “Wretched Wolf”. We approached for a comment.
"Those who are an affront to upheld peace in systems governed by us or our allies will face the unified force of independent, and our own, specialist forces. This applies similarly for this event; from our specialist Royal Guard [SCRG] to our naval fleets - all are well funded, trained, and prepared to keep the peace, and this applies no less to this event."

Wretched Wolf

Confident words from a distinguished military leader that will surely put attendees at ease. With the Spearhead Charter Royal Guard present for this event, the chance of foul play is insignificant at best, and will be swiftly dealt with otherwise.

The Vestige Herald will update if this story progresses.

Yutsah Convention ends, Operation Artemis begins.
-------------------------
October 1st - 3304

Manktas

The Yutsah convention has been an overwhelming success! A week filled with exotic cuisine, unique musical performances and fine art is coming to its end. This week saw many highlights that will remain in the minds of attendees for years to come.

- On the 24th, we saw the heated confrontation of a team of Manktas native gourmet cooks versus a team of Inovit master chefs. Each round would have the teams rush to create high-class meals of both culture’s cultures cookbooks. Ten judges were selected from revered artists, actors and musicians from the Inovit and Manktas system. In the end, the Inovit chefs would take home the victory by demolishing the dessert round.

- On the 25th, the Xelabara Republic Party joined in the festivities and brought along with them their own goods from the various systems they represent, further enriching the quality of the event.

- On the 27th, Duke Marnell Casna, of the Aristocrats of Inovit, got down on bent knee and proposed to Manktas’ very own pop-icon Shelmu Mossa. Previously unknown to the public, a romantic relationship between Shelmu and Marnell had existed for quite some time. Shelmu wholeheartedly accepted the proposal and embraced her new fiancé without hesitation.

These are but a few examples of what went down this week. Every attendee has their own wonderful story to tell. However, were we to say the entire week was pure bliss we would be lying to you. With all the new traffic from the Inovit system - and later the various systems controlled by the Xelabara Republic Party came not only more trade, but heightened piracy. A startling increase in pirate activity has been monitored during the week. These outlaws are members of various organizations and don't appear to have any motive besides taking advantage of the abundance of civilian vessels.

Spearhead Charter has commenced the flagging of a vast number of starships linked with pirate activity during the Yutsah Convention. Commanders of the SCRG are being coordinated to focus their efforts on cleaning up any trace of pirate activity. With merchants still needing to move unsold wares and equipment back home, there's still more opportunities for the pirates to exploit.

This initiative is going under the name “OPERATION ARTEMIS” and is scheduled to be in effect until October the 7th. As of now, the elimination of pirate elements in Manktas is the top priority of the Spearhead Charter. Lyria Eardley, a specialist in the Spearhead Charter Royal Guard had this to say about the operation.
"This is a military operation and will be handled appropriately. There is no need for the public to be concerned, we are simply cleaning up after a successful convention which drew criminal attention as expected. The situation will be dealt with swiftly, I can assure you."

Lyria Eardley (Specialist, SCRG).

To ignite a sense of competition, military pilots of Spearhead Charter are requested to log their bounties on a secure network. At the end of the operation, the pilot with the most earnings is expected to be knighted as the castellan of San Yulpa, an honor given only to the most dedicated pilots of the Spearhead Charter. These knights will be the sworn protectors of their systems, will represent the Spearhead Charter and lay the foundation for our eventual expansion. They will also be granted permission to record the official history of their star system for the Vestige’s achieves. They will be expected to keep an eye on their system and report back to Spearhead Command on any events that transpire. In short, the knights of the Vestige are protectors, loremasters, and watchful eyes. But you don't have to be a knight to be a watchful eye, nor a protector. Enlist today and join the fight!

Operation Artemis continues as situation escalates
-------------------------
October 8th - 3304
------------------
Manktas
------------

Operation Artemis has been officially extended for another week. This is due to a drastic underestimation of criminal elements within Manktas.

While merchants of the Yutsah convention have since cleared out, a new problem has emerged as a nearby system of San Yulpa has shown signs of worrying instability. Open warfare has broken out between the San Yulpa Mob and the Alliance of San Yulpa. The San Yulpa system is tied to Manktas economically for its rare ore excavations and refinery services. In recent weeks, mob operations have reached an all-time high, with security forces commencing military actions to control the situation.

But what does this have to do with Manktas? Well, with San Yulpa being a measly 4.5 Ly away, Manktas is beginning to show signs of being a staging point for mob operations back in San Yulpa. Upstart pirate outfits in Manktas have also begun fleeing to merge with the mob during Operation Artemis’ initial week, swelling their ranks in turn.

Nobles in the Vestige are clamoring on whether or not to push towards military intervention in San Yulpa to quickly silence this matter. More conservative officials suggest the focus should be on cleaning up Manktas and fortifying Spearhead Charter’s position. The former however seems to be in the majority as more and more reputable voices announce their support.

The Vestige Herald have approached SCRG Specialist Lyria Eardley to get an opinion from the military's perspective.

“There has been much debate over the past few days over whether expansion to San Yulpa is a viable response to this threat. Both sides of the debate have merit. San Yulpa is a part of the Vestige, and so is rightfully the property of Spearhead Charter. However, as the controlling faction lies outside the Alliance of Independent Systems, some feel the move would be overly aggressive. The one clear fact however is that the potential for the decay of the system into anarchy is unacceptable, and the factions there have limited ability to stop it. We may be required to take action, though whether that is through conquest or alliance is a question for another day.”

- Lyria Eardley (Specialist, SCRG)

Operation Artemis is to end with one of the commanders of the Spearhead Charter Royal Guard becoming the appointed “Knight” of San Yulpa. With the situation there becoming ever more dire as the mob gains more influence, the need for a knight to keep watch over San Yulpa is even more necessary. The first week of the operation has seen notable efforts between three commanders, such as CMDR Cassandra Varr who’s been pitching in with nothing more than a small Viper. We approached her for a comment on the situation.

"I have been out in the belts for the past couple of days and listened to the comms chatter of the unsavory elements trying to terrorize miners out there. They'll just keep coming if we don't get to the root of the problem. Expansion is the only solution to get a proper foothold in San Yulpa!"

- Cassandra Varr

We also approached CMDR Spotikus, another leading pilot in the operation for his opinions on the escalating tensions.

"At the end of the day it's all about keeping our home and neighbors safe. Operation Artemis or not, if I can get out there to make a difference, you bet I’ll make an effort. As for what the higher ups decide as to what to do about San Yulpa, if you ask me, i wouldnt have a problem with military action. Spearhead Charter is about defending humanity. If we leave a system vulnerable to criminal leadership, then we not only let the people of San Yulpa suffer, but risk the lives of Manktas as well. Hopefully we can quell this crime wave without being invasive to our neighbors, but we shouldn't give these criminal organizations the chance to grow."

- Spotikus

The Vestige Herald will be at the ready to report if this story develops further.
