Veteran Miner and Bounty hunters opinion on bounty changes

With 14000 bounties turned in... and about 32000 minerals refined...

I still find that 650k credits seems low for taking on a dangerous anaconda

Time and risk spent. lasering out 1 ton of painte yields around 550k and you can do several in a rock and or often MANY MANY MANY....AND ITS NOT SHOOTING BACK... its hardly moving and you are not spending mats if using premium ammo.

650k v 550 is just not enough spread

Yes... we know that the mission system comes into play. it does for both really.. yes the mission are stronger for combat.

But on the one off... it feels weak regardless ... combat spontaneous should be more... 6x 8x. maybe even 10x... 4x just not enough IMHO

EDIT: about 5 hours from first posting this..............

I had not realized that they had also given a generous buff to the non wing massacre missions. so further testing is needed. I trust they will adjust things if needed

I’m going to wait until I see what they have planned for CZ and AX before making any final judgements on overall combat rewards...

But I think the initial 4x/10x is already looking very promising, if a bit generous. Stacking that with massacres and assassinations should bring in a tidy profit for any dedicated combat fighter...

Also, I don’t think the intention was to bring combat up to mining levels (or above it), just to make all activities a little more reasonable.

They have said that risk should be considered though...

Big buffs to CZ and AX will hopefully address that.

I don't have to find a good sell system somewhere across the bubble for my bounty vouchers and hope nobody's filled all the demand for them already. I can turn them in right there at any port in the system.
This, and also at the current rates 1 ton of painite can only realistically be sold for around 250k. The mining re-balance made more laser mine-able materials worth mining, but also reduced the value of the two previous mainstays. That means more time spent trying to sell since you need to find 2 or three separate stations if you want to get a good price on everything you mined.

No, that's not the question at all. The question is whether bounty hunting is fun and worthwhile. The increases certainly add to the latter.

Actually that IS the question... they stated it themselves

The goal was ... the higher the risk... should have the higher reward.

combat is fun regardless

Yes they did... its about 4x

You can get about 1 million for a elite FDL

But the real question is... can you make MORE per HOUR than mining....

i doubt it. and i thought that was the goal
I don't think that is the real goal...for combat to be worth more credits per hour than mining.

It's about bringing those two activities closer together in earning potential...and it's also the first pass so maybe they need to tweak the numbers a bit.

No but I was reffering to their HP/shields/weapons. I saw somewhere someone said the higher ranks npc are tougher now. Not sure if true or not.

The comment I read was that they didn't want everyone to feel they had to go and mine to make money. That's completely different to everything paying the same. These increases will hopefully mean that those who don't like mining no longer feel obliged to do so to get anywhere. And the mining reductions are reasonable too - but it's still very lucrative.

Where did FD state that they wanted bounty hunting to make more than mining? They just want the balance to work for everyone, as much as they can. Finally. :D

very little risk with laser mining painte

You forgot the KWS BONUS pay Its not just the single system pay its also nealy Half extra you get with a KWS as well...
9 mill in system kills gives nearly 4.5 mill in KWS payment at an IF..

Plus any Powerplay bonus, in the above case rank 5 Hudson. Took under 1.5 hours and an additional 17mil for the completed massacre.

This is straight from their balancing announcement thread

"""Our goal is to have rewards better match the level of skill, effort, and risk each method requires. This means we'll see increased credit rates in some activities and reductions in others. """
