Vets taking an eternity to research?

I don’t know if it is because of the update but since it I downloaded it my vets take an eternity to research. It has taken a vet 16 in game years to research fully the grizzly bears and I’m shocked. I have two vets currently researching on the lions and the cheetahs and they have researched nothing so far...I have a new vet for every two habitats and I wait to build the second one until the animal of the first one is fully researched and it has always worked for me super well but now is tedious! Am I the only one struggling?

Most of them are fully skilled but some have only a 3 stars but honestly I don’t think this really changes much cause when I started the zoo, and I started with the giraffes, the vet took just a little time to research

This is very likely due to your vet that is assigned to research being too far away from the habitat of the animal they are researching. I just posted an entire video on how these and all other staff work if you'd like a more in-depth explanation. There is a skip link to the vets section in the description if you'd rather not watch the whole thing, but here it is.

How many vets do you have? Also Vets will research when they have nothing else to do, if you have been moving a lot of animals / animals dieing etc and only 1/2 vets that could be the issue.

No I have 10 and my animals have never gotten sick so far cause I check if the habitats are clean constantly cause had so many problems with peafowls in the past, so no, my vets don’t work at all pretty much, all they do is wonder around the zoo

do you have enough reasearchlabs? also quite close to these habitats?

Yup, that was my problem when I first started playing. Multiple vets competing to use a single lab facility. Between that and staff fatigue it took forever to research anything. Now I make sure I have a dedicated lab for each vet I intend to have researching.

Same thing goes for mechanics researching stuff in workshops.

Put the research facilities near the animals that are being researched so the vet doesn't spend so much time walking, because when researching they go to the habitat, back to the research lab, then back to the habitat, etc. When my research was really slow on one of my early zoos I looked at the tab for the Vet that shows how she was spending her time and like 90% of it was "commuting", that's how I learned better.

I tear down labs near habitats of things that are fully researched even, so I don't have the labs all over the zoo when I don't need all of them, but always build one near new habitats for increasing research speed. Using this approach, I don't have any zoos with more than 2 or 3 vets, even the ones I have with like 30 to 40 habitats, because the research happens as fast as I add habitats. My current franchise zoo is at 32 habitats with only 2 vets, and they handle all the work plus get the research done.
