Viability of the 1060

So my 960 wasn't good enough for this, so I bought the 1060 and while it was good, it wasn't great and there was some issues when using Ovrdrop (too much cpu usage).
Is the 1060 still good for VR with all of the new changes/updates to the game or would it be better to save up for the 1080?

I'm confused, if you've got the 1060 already why are you asking if its viable and if you should save for the 1080?

Typo or beer affecting my reading comprehension?

Sorry, maybe I should clarify.

Haven't done VR in awhile and there have been a lot of updates changes in both games and hardware capabilities/updates.
That said, with these changes, is the 1060 better or the same?

Cant help you there sorry, my headset is new.

I've never seen anyone on these forums say performance over time has got worse or better. So I assume the same.

There was a thread on a particular recent nvidia driver being good for VR so I'd check that out.

Give it a try. My 1060 was originally what drove me to build a new gaming rig with a 1080, because the VR performance was pretty poor even on low settings. But with 3.3 and the newest Nvidia drivers, I've been extremely satisfied with the performance now and have turned up the graphics settings way higher than I expected I'd be able to.

I have a 1070 and can't hit 90 fps consistently with 1.25 HMD quality and med/low settings for most things, so I wish I had a beefier card for sure. I consider 1.25 HMD quality the minimum for good text readability. 1.5 would be even nicer, but alas.

That's my experience with the 1070, also; it just isn't powerful enough to sustain 90fps at anything above 1.00 HMD. I'd love a card that could cope with 1.5, but I can't justify spending at least £700 on a new card when ED is literally the one game I play that overwhelms the 1070.

Same. I'm waiting for next gen of VR to upgrade. RTX line is kind of a dud anyways IMO.
