[Video] 1.1.03 Anaconda and Python Audio Test - Docking / Undocking

Hi all, this post is in reference to https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=112579 The "What happened to the sound thread". I'm hoping to get some feedback from other commanders to see if I'm crazy or not as my post was overlooked in that thread (page 28). This post is not meant as a whine / whing, just providing feedback of what I feel has changed. Please be civil!

Thanks for hotfixing the audio yesterday! I tried it out.

Does anyone remember the satisfying "clunk" or "thump" sound when launching and it releases you?

In game audio settings are at the start of the video. My audio settings in windows are set to 16 bit 48000hz. I don't notice a difference with 24 bit 48000 hz.

Please excuse my use of onomatopoeia. All links are to the same video, just at different time spots. Useful for hearing the same sound over and over again for comparison!
Highlights:
  • 0:16 Large Pad Anaconda returning to surface http://youtu.be/l-Rsvsmp43g?t=16s Missing the "whurrrrr"
  • 0:28 Blast Deflectors are quieter, less satisfying. http://youtu.be/l-Rsvsmp43g?t=28s
  • 0:32 Hitting Launch http://youtu.be/l-Rsvsmp43g?t=32s Missing the heavy "THUNK" of being released.
  • The landing gear is retracted, sounds louder than 1.1 but the bass is still not there. It sounds like an echo.
  • 1:00 Passing through letterbox http://youtu.be/l-Rsvsmp43g?t=1m Sounds better than before, but again more "echo" than substance.
  • 1:10 Hitting Boost and flying around before returning to dock http://youtu.be/l-Rsvsmp43g?t=1m10s I can't quite describe how it's different than before.
  • 1:30 Turning 180 with flight assist and accelerating through the full engine range. http://youtu.be/l-Rsvsmp43g?t=1m30s It just seems off somehow I can't pinpoint it, maybe just the bass again.
  • 2:20 Tried ramming a shieldless npc for a boom, no luck. Still Fun. :) http://youtu.be/l-Rsvsmp43g?t=2m19s
  • 2:35 Lowering Anaconda Landing gear (fingers were crossed for no random boom, to be honest) http://youtu.be/l-Rsvsmp43g?t=2m35s Missing the old "kathunnnnk" when fully lowered into position.
  • 3:05 Docked, touchdown http://youtu.be/l-Rsvsmp43g?t=3m5s
  • Entering hanger missing that "thunk" when the pad drops suddenly. Play with lights sounds.
  • 3:31 Switched to python, medium pad. Return to surface http://youtu.be/l-Rsvsmp43g?t=3m31s Missing the wurrrrrrrrrrrrrr forward.
  • Blast deflectors sound like just an echo. Missing the launch "thunk"
  • 4:15 Lining up then Blasting through the letterbox http://youtu.be/l-Rsvsmp43g?t=4m15s
  • I spend a while trying to get all the different python sounds out. Hardpoints still have a thunk but still, isn't it more muted?
  • Am I the only one around here who thinks the Python engine sounds different here? I am not the best at hearing things so am really just not sure here. It sounds like it's missing something. Overall though, it's one of my favorite engine sounds.
  • 6:00 Coming in fast then growling to a stop. http://youtu.be/l-Rsvsmp43g?t=6m00s Sounds like it's missing some of it's deep "growl".
  • Deploying landing gear sounds like an echo, no thunk.

I can see why most describe it as a tinny, or hollow sound. It sounds to me like an echo, as if an entire frequency is missing.

I hope this feedback is helpful.
