[VIDEO] Broken As Intended - Instancing and NPCs

I can only hope it's all fixed when I go buy my xbox one (and I can only hope one of my friends shoots me on the way to the shop if I ever try to buy an xbox one ;) )

My worst fear, is the brokenness will lead to hemorrhaging of players, this game needs a solid player base to work. I simply don't want to see the game die, too much potential. Question is can they win the race, between fixing the game or losing too many players? As I have mentioned elsewhere promises of things to come can only keep a players attention so long. Frustrations while playing will kill that enthusiasm faster than anything.

I must have some kind of holy grail copy of Elite because I've never had this issue.

I honestly think you know more about what you're talking about than I do, and I ask this as a genuinely helpful suggestion (read: I'm not being a sarcastic troll): Have you checked your NAT settings? I've seen issues in the past with NAT settings making certain players invisible to one another (in other games).

With all due respect...we SHOULDNT have to change any settings to play this game with friends.
Im not a PC literate person...and when I need to dig into my PC settings, its a bit scarey for me.
Its the responsibility of the developers to make this game playable as advertised.

the reason why this is happening is more on the games side than theirs. The game randomly instances players in mid system for no reason and without warning, at least in a game like gw2 they have a prompt telling you that you have been place in another instance. The interdiction thing though is something I don't understand. why are some players getting to many npc interdicts than others? Well, the fact are this happens sometimes with players with high bounties or are carrying a large amount of cargo on their ships, if it was this then this would make sense. But other times players with no bounty nor any cargo get this occurrence too, which doesn't make sense. The latter shouldn't be happening as it makes no sense. Regardless though, FD does need to fix these.

They really need to fix this, my faction went to a lot of trouble to get a couple of wings together, players from US, UK, Siberia and Canada and the two wings couldn't see each other all evening...tried all sorts to get it to work but no joy

The instancing is bad and broken we all know this. Sensationalism of the title and claiming FD is combative in their response to the instancing problems makes you look pretty silly though.

I laughed at your shock of no enemy showing up in the instance after an interdiction, was that your first time interdicting someone? That is very common FYI, especially when you are instanced with people from different parts of the globe already like you and your wingmate.

I suspect this is the issue some players are having as well.

No! It's not the developers responsibility to ensure the network architecture of your internet service provider is compatible with on-line-multi-player games. Contact your service provider, they will help you if it is indeed a
Network Address Translation issue.

All of this will continue as long as FDEV continue to rely on UPnP for the reverse NAT punching for the P2P communication.

OMG. They use UPnP?!!?!?! LOLOLOLOLOL!
Edit: is that documented somewhere?

There are some rules:

  • Never get in a battle of passive-aggressive with a cat
  • Never get in a land war in Asia
  • Never use a networking framework from Microsoft

I had no idea. OK, my estimate of FD's coding skills just dropped fairly dramatically.

Just got a new one this Jan B) feeling pretty cool with my low ping haha

Edit:
Your avatar is horrifying.

Still worth checking if your routers Network Address Translation is "strict" or not.

I think he resembles the majority of this planets populace. So... yes, horrifying! :D

Edit: I think if he had no ears, the resemblance would be that much closer.

I agree. Couple that with stuff that's heavily promoted (you know what I mean) that many players avoid in-game but can't escape the ubiquitous fanfares out-of-game, and I suspect you have the perfect storm for that hemorrhaging. Observing the playing habits of my friends and observing the change of tone in the forums, I fear it has already started. Is there a way we can get reliable independent usage figures, or even an estimate?
