VIDEO Close-up view of the Imperial Capital Ship (Majestic Class Interdictor) in game

Yes - found one! Here is a decent video showing this massive Imperial Capital Ship (Majestic Class Interdictor) in action.

Edit: And now me trying to take it out....

Well, I figured I would give it a try... After a few failed attempts last night where I managed to get the ship down a bit before being killed by smaller fighters, I came into today with a plan of exactly what I was going to attack first.

Unfortunately, I don't know if it is possible to kill this ship yet, as I had all three FSD drives listed as 0% yet it was still able to escape by jumping out.

Either the drives being at 0% makes no difference with this ship, Frontier don't have it setup right, or one of the drives was actually at 0.4% or something and being rounded down. I am tempted to believe the latter now after re-watching the footage, as when it jumps out you can clearly see two engines on fire, while one isn't.

I am not going to show footage of the entire battle, because it took me quite a bit of time to work out what to attack and when (along with a few insurance claims last night). So this video actually contains:
- Great footage of the ship jumping into the conflict zone.
- Some random strafing runs
- Some times when I had to leave the dreadnought to take care of fighters who wouldn't leave me alone
- Great footage of the ship jumping back out of the conflict zone with two FSDs on fire.
- me being caught in the jump wake from the dreadnought, which caused a lot of hull damage, then the 20 seconds or so it took to compose myself after being annoyed it happened. :)
- Some combat with smaller fighters after the dreadnought left, eventually jumping out with a slim 1% of my hull remaining.

Pro tip: Don't be near them when they jump.

Oh, and what the hell is that LEAKING out of the Viper 9mins into the video that seems to disable the pilot!?

Enjoy.

Is it just me, or is the signage inside the docking bay 180 degrees relative to the signage outside the bay?

awesome vid, some bad LOD popping though on that thing and at 8:40 you can see through it's hull at the front and see the rings below
maybe increase your viewdistance?

Loved the fact that the ship was damaged and you could see a hole that was on fire! So cool, what attention to detail FD!

:D

Sorry for my ignorance... but is this a ship we can eventually acquire, or is this purely for NPCs?

That thing is like a space version of a naval destroyer... incredible.

Re-using textures (mirroring) is common in games. :) They probably didn't count on someone flying inside. :D

It's at max. LOD popups seem to occur in ED right after you take a hires screenshot.

AFAIK it is NPC only.

Very nice sir.

I'm new to it so would ask where I find such places to fight?

Bulletin board info might tell you of your nearest conflict zone. Near Federation space there should be a zone in Eranin somewhere, this specific one is in HIP 22500, which is far from anywhere. :) Close to Imperial I guess.

Having just spent about 40mins trying to take down a Dreadnought and getting it to 42%, I'm of the opinion they cannot be killed (yet). I disabled all three FSD drives on the ship and it still jumped out. I don't want to give away too much information on the tactics and strafing directions used (it took me quite a while to work them out with the weaponry on it, and disable those in a specific way), but I'll have a video uploading soon - which if nothing else shows some super footage of the ship jumping in and out of the combat zone, and a few random strafing runs.

Scratch that, looking over the footage again, it seems 2 engines were on fire and 1 wasn't when it jumped out, so I guess one of the engines was being rounded down from 0.4% or less... ?
