Man, I LOVE the stealth elements in this game :D. It's all about the heat, so you have to choose which things to turn off, whether to seal up etc; all of these options bring an element of danger.

I've made a video of the stealth mission, where I turn off pretty much everything except the necessaries so the big scary cobra doesn't see me and kerplode me (one usually follows the other for me in this mission :p)

Nice video, I've only just got to that one.

I love the fact I'm watching a NASA chappie flying in space. :cool:

Nice vid. I make no claims to be any kind of 'Topgun' but I have some observations.

1. You could get a lot closer before firing. Try 500m or closer.

2. Try shorter bursts unless you are certain of hitting the target.

3. If you want to lose heat quickly, switch off the engines. You need them back on to go anywhere but the cooler your ship is, the longer it can stay in silent running mode.

I got the hump with the Cobra in the end so I destroyed it. I then lost the last scout so the mission did not end.

I did manage to finish it after a couple of attempts but I think this will make it a lot easier next time. Thanks.

Thanks for the tips :). Has anyone else found that turning engines off while moving makes the temperature go up? When I turn engines off while still, then the temperature drops rapidly. However, if I do it when moving, I slow to a halt, with the temp rising rapidly til I hit zero speed; at zero the temp cools. I have submitted a ticket coz this is either a bug or just plain silly :).

Nope :). I will see what happens if I leave more equipment on and try silent running :).

You're welcome :). I wish RPS used that vid in the OR article instead of the one where I was flapping about trying to get used to the alternative targeting!
