Powerplay Video Displaying how Fun and Engaging Open Power Play is For Pilots of All Skill Levels!

Open Only Power Play Facilitates Interactive Player Engagements that are Entertaining and Fulfilling for All Sides Involved!

Felicia Winters is trying to expand into HR 4720 (and will almost certainly succeed lol), and Arissa Lavigny-Duval & Co. are trying to oppose the expansion. PvP fights often break out when overwatch wings from opposing sides, who are protecting their merit farmers/hunting for enemy ones, collide with one another in Supercruise. This fight is one such instance. A group of mercenaries that call themselves the Patrol ("" from here on out) are contracted out by the FUC (Federal United Command) almost every cycle, and in this video I show a fight that broke out between them and their then-allied FUC pilots, and 7 of Lavigny's Legion's (LL henceforth) pilots (with one particularly helpful fellow from Continuum :D ).

The point I want to make the most in this post, is that the LL wing was comprised of pilots of greatly varying skill levels, in ships of greatly varying PvP efficiency, with greatly varying levels of engineering done to them... and most of us had never flown in the same wing together. Against these odds we secured a kill on a Corvette, and forced several CMDRs to wake out or be killed! Of course, we took losses as well, but that's just the name of the game :) My recording only plays back my own comms, but if you could hear my wingmen then you'd see how good of a time we were all having. No one got salty about dying, no one got mad at the other side for griefing them; the whole night was full of "GGs" and "o7s" from both sides. Some of the game's more infamous pilots even showed up for a shot at some of that much-sought-after "Organic PvP" that I'm sure so many of you have heard used as a way to justify Open only PP (and a select few of them show up somewhat regularly).

Each Power Play cycle is a ripe opportunity for fun and engaging PvP conflicts, where players of all skill levels and ship preferences can have a good time and enjoy playing the game with their friends; putting Power Play into Open only will facilitate even more interactions like this, and will make the game more lively and even more appealing to potential buyers.

Being one of the haulers that was expanding during this cycle. These pvp engagements definitely add variety and excitement to what would easily be a tedious activity of shipping from point A to point B. The whole thing adds aspects of strategy in which pvp ships will escort their haulers, defending them from enemy ships that are actively trying to oppose these advances. It was cycles like this that true demonstrate how amazing PP in open would be.

Im gettin' all gorram nostalgic for cycles 1-20 watching this video :)

Good shows all around! Shame I wasn't available any of the times big fights broke out. But this is so much better than hauling in Solo.

Is your argument essentially..."i enjoyed these particular PvP encounters therefore Powerplay content must be summarily and permanently be deleted from single/co-op players" ?
Because it looked to me likeyou were having fun under the existing system...without needing to diminish the game for others

PvP is some the most thrilling fun I've had in this game!

Though PvP is not for everyone, it just bewilders me that some, WHO HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED TRUE PvP other than getting "griefed", completely refuse to even try consensual battles.

Some people need to get out and live a little.

As a matter of fact that seems like a pretty solid summary of this particular angle, which is only a small part of a much wider argument. Unfortunately we do not always get to have these experiences, because sometimes people play Power Play in a game mode where we cannot find them. Those people are denying us the chance to play the game how WE want to play, and are circumventing our completely legitimate right to personally contest PP targets via merit farming interference. If you want to help your Power from Solo or a PG, then I recommend you get in touch with their BGS operations and help them with fortification triggers.

That's just it isn't it? There is absolutely nothing preventing the exciting battles some are looking for right now in the game as it is. And while this was no doubt good fun for the participants, how did it actually affect the end result of the ultimate goal?

I would also submit that it is very possible that forcing Open Only would make things like this more unlikely rather than more likely. This is a perfect example of Consensual PvP. Those who wanted to engage did. Those who didn't want to, didn't. Forcing those who don't want this into situations like this isn't going to be fun for anyone.

The inability to find haulers, and provoke PvP responses, are a major preventative factor for these kinds of engagements.

fights like this often involve merit farmers. If you note, we only just barely missed taking out a fully loaded Federal hauler. When our boys died/respawned, they also began patrolling Supercruise again for more haulers. So, actually, these kinds of engagements quite often result in merit losses well into the thousands, and even tens of thousands, for one side or the other.

I would also submit that it is very possible that forcing Open Only would make things like this more unlikely rather than more likely.

Can you please explain your reasoning for that...? More people in Open = more people to shoot at = more hostile action reports = more PvP.

This is a perfect example of Consensual PvP. Those who wanted to engage did. Those who didn't want to, didn't.

I don't want to put words in the man's mouth, but I'm pretty sure losing millions of credits in rebuy and fast-tracked mertis wasn't on CMDR Brant's agenda for the evening...

Forcing those who don't want this into situations like this isn't going to be fun for anyone.

It's going to be a LOT of fun for me!

Well the "perspective from the other side" video was boring to watch - 10 minutes and still no further than when you started? So isn't that an argument for keeping PP solo? lol

Open openly powerplay means that these sorts of encounters will happen frequently instead of a couple times a week.

Great post, i believe that with open only power play a lot more cmdrs with varying degree of skill and engineering will join in.

I brought 8 13th Legion guys in last night and tangled with as many FUC/Reepatrol guys in a very fun large fight. Then the second one rolled into a 14 v 8 cat fight which was a blast. I would think that the rush the haulers get trying to get through all the enemies would be worth the risk. Can't wait till PP is open only.

here is some video of the fights for those who wanna see it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mXAVpHcM-8
