Video - High Grade Emissions Respawn Trick

Guide on how to respawn High Grade Emissions signal sources using the relog trick. This allows you to continually farm the same signal source for speedy material gathering. Follow up to my Manufactured Material Farming guide.

Thanks now FDev will patch it.
It's been this way for a while, pretty sure FDev knows about it.

Just as well if they did patch it though. Would save the rest of us from the constant drip of posts from folks whinging for validation that they aren't taking advantage of an unintended bug when they do it.

Ya, they have to, seeing how they missed it when they patched out menu-logging for the same effect as a bug. Some might say that would make it intentional abuse of a known bug, which sounds an awful lot like an exploit. Other side of that coin though, is there have been several updates since they failed to entirely fix it the first time in which they have neglected to do anything about it, and if they aren't interested in fixing their own game, then how can anyone really be exploiting it...

I personally don't find it interesting or fun to repeatedly kill the game to gather materials that are already insanely easy to gather, but to each their own.

Not to fuel the fire but another popular YouTuber has a similar video out for a while and mentions at the end he contacted frontier and was told it was not exploitive. Personally I could care less and I don't understand why some players farming hge's should bother or effect anyone else's gameplay. I dont bother I just scoop up what's dropped from assasination missions and get plenty. We can all play our way....

I really don't give a toss about the issue; if somebody wants to spend their afternoon doing that, they have more important things to worry about than my opinion.

As for that quote though, I hope there's some extraordinary evidence because that is one extraordinary claim. Not making a value judgement there, I mean just factually. The classic test of an exploit is do it and think 'does this feel like an exploit'. I'm pretty sure when you're deliberately exiting the game fully to desktop and relaunching it in order to continue playing over and over again it does feel just a teensy little bit like something other than 'part of intended gameplay'. You could also go with 'can this be explained within the context of the game world and its lore.' Yeah, drawing a blank on that one I'm afraid.

Let's see if it gets clarified on here, perhaps with some insight into the underpinning logic that's being applied. Maybe it's the same logic that gave us 'we don't call logging out of the game to refresh the mission board an exploit but we're determined to stop you doing it even though it's totally normal and stuff and definitely not an exploit' :D

My only point was that a very popular you tuber with elite dangerous tutorial videos mentions this in his video whether it's TRUE or not I have no idea however I find that to be a moot point. I was only pointing out that this isn't a new mechanic nor is the information not common knowledge. Just like players log in and out at guardian sites scanning data etc. I'm sorry I cant currently link video but I'm working i can try to find it later. Like is said in my first response i dont care
Nor do I do this but if its exploitive frontier is aware and many players are using these methods.

I wasn't attacking you at all there, hope it didn't come over like that. It was more an instinctive 'what the actual...' response 😁

No worries didn't take it that way. Dont want to steal OP's thunder I found the video and he mentions in the comments that he opened a ticket with support to confirm it didn't violate TOS . Again I cant vouch for if it's true but he has a good reputation in the community. All is good fly safe commanders .

I suspect it's very much the same situation. The logic being, as I see it: if they call it an "exploit" then the implication is that players doing it are violating the ToS, and they're on the hook to devote resources to detect and warn/punish/whatever players caught doing it. Whereas they've probably had at least a brief internal discussion and decided it's not a big enough deal to be worth that kind of effort (since it's really not much faster than harvesting HGE the usual way), so they'll just leave it ambiguous and patch it out next time that code path is up for a rewrite.

Yeah I was having a bit of a chuckle at that more than anything else. Like most developers they don't really like using the 'e' word if they can avoid it because players don't like being labeled as exploiters. Even though it doesn't mean 'cheat', which is why there's a separate word for it. I still remember Warren Spector talking in an interview about one of the exploits players found in the original Deus Ex and saying that he was impressed at a creative use of the mechanics the developers created. *
I'm not so sure this one falls into creative territory but it is what it is.

*You didn't trigger your own proximity mines when planted so you could stick one to a wall, jump on it, stick another one above and to the side of it, jump on that, pick up the first one and carry on doing that to climb up walls you were never intended to climb. As well as just being fun, it allowed some very satisfying sniper shots 😁 Most definitely an 'unintended use of game mechanics'.

Yeah its been promoted by other you tubers who are far well known than me. Plus fdev have confirmed it's not an exploit. It will likely be patched out at some stage, but i thought I would highlight it so other commanders can decide if they want to make use of it or not.

There are so many HGEs currently in boom systems that I think it's quicker and much simpler to simply fly to another HGE than the whole exit game -> start game -> wait for loading -> login -> wait for loading -> go back to supercruise -> reselect USS -> drop... Unless of course you're really, really fond of that particular HGE.

I'll stick with "select 2nd HGE" -> hit "supercruise assist".

QUICK, EVERYONE!

Time is of the essence - on past empirical evidence, we only have until our star envelops us in a big, red, fiery ball!

What about that ^ for hilarious & innovative mordacity, eh?! Source: https://imgur.com/zGBuOVN

Everyone's a critic!

Not that this cataclysmic event will affect me, anyhoo; I intend to be living on Mars in 'Muskville' by then - that's miles away from all the trouble - provided that I don't die of COVID-19 in some kind of terrible Twelve Monkeys scenario...hopefully this time I won't have to endure Brad Pitt hamming it up like William Shatner on morphine - mmmm morphiiiiine - but then again, the ED community should all be quite safe because we're all in our 20s, right?....Hello?....Anyone?!

In the meantime, fill your boots, brothers & sisters! Not fill your brother & sisters, you understand?! Oh English grammar...why do you always forsake I?

NB: I hereby promise that I won't mention morphine ever again!
