This is why the training missions are a must! Not making fun, as most of us have been through this, but it was funny to see from my perspective instead of from inside the cockpit!

Note: The shenanigans in the beginning, I randomly saw a Commander who I had on my friends list! I was overly excited as I tried to go nose-to-nose with him, but accidentally bumped into him! Sorry, Jwood13LC! I also didn't notice you chatting to me...I was too busy watching the landing pad guy!

My docking was atrocious (had to look closely it wasn't me in the clip :) ).

Mainly because I couldn't for the life of me get lateral thrust set up right.

How did you set yours lateral thrust? keep it on the defaults and got the hang of it or changed it?

This poor guy was struggling! I felt bad for him but this place was busy last night with a dozen commanders or so. I had a blast last night!

I think I ended up with whatever the second preset is called - "classic"?. Any way it had lateral thrust on the right stick instead of yaw. I gave up fiddling as any button combo I tried already had something mapped :rolleyes:

Hopefully practice will help smooth the ride :)

Remember you have aux thrusters on L3 up down left right. With L3 off u just have up down and yaw left right. o7

I had no problem with landing in the dock but holy me to enter the dock ...where is that bloody door sometimes :rolleyes: :D
Still in training bay the way just done the second one and feel comfortable now with docking and leaving to another station that orbit around it self but that doooor , now lets go to nr 3 in the training .

If you look at the station as it rotates from left round to right it will always be at the top.

Or where you choose to dock, select the lock on target. On the station hologram arrows will show you where the door is.

I had the same issue.... It was like watching a monkey trying to screw a greased football... it was not pretty :p once i figured out my thrust system again it became much easier [smile]

Anybody who may have witnessed my attempts at "landing" last night must have been absolutely p....... themselves laughing. :D

Also a tip for landing pads! There is a yellow docking bridge (Or what looks like that) on every pad. That will always be on your right hand side when you are coming in the right way. It is a good landmark and easy to locate when you are coming in. You can see it in this video.

So this was amusing (to me anyways) - so I felt like I had the controls down, did some big station landings no problem. So I pick up a slew of missions and fly over to the first station. Its a small station with only one pad.
So I fail to notice the traffic jam that's developed and somehow get my landing permissions (LIFO queued), so I do the approach and must have looked like the guy in the video because I forgot direction matters. So after I run the timer out (mind you theres like a dozen other people trying to get in here). I put myself hovering a little ways from the landing pad. Now I realize that there is a traffic jam and getting landing permission again is going to take some time so I go outside to smoke. When I come back its total red alert in the living room - alarms going off, lazer sounds coming from everywhere and I'm wondering what the heck is going on. After 5 mins or so I realize IM WHATS GOING ON, the station is doing it best to shoot me down but I had drifted into this blind spot behind the dock tower so nothing can actually hit me. I pondered just hanging out here to see if that station would destroy itself in its attempt to put me in my place but finally just log off to open the path for everyone else (and it was really late)...... So that happened.
