Anybody who may have witnessed my attempts at "landing" last night must have been absolutely p....... themselves laughing. :D

landed at station failed, landed at outpost failed, landed on planetary base failed less. landed on 2g world landed like i always knew how. i seriously don't get how that works

I think I ended up with whatever the second preset is called - "classic"?. Any way it had lateral thrust on the right stick instead of yaw. I gave up fiddling as any button combo I tried already had something mapped

Hopefully practice will help smooth the ride :)

I just press the Left Stick to switch between the modes as and when I need them. I looked at remapping as well and found that everything was being used in some form or another.

And yeah everyone in little sidewinders exploding in the stations and leaving SC at stars because they got to close.:D Takes me back to Alpha when I did those things as well as many other commanders.

While waiting for a landing pad with about 8 or 10 other commander, I kept hearing ships blowing up! 4 or 5 commanders either crashed and blew up or fired off their weapons and got creamed by the station/police. It was like July 4th.

It's going to be fun watching the PS4 newbs, but at the same time I'm a little bit jealous as you will all be enjoying the newness and the wow factor. Some of you will drift away when you realise it's not for you but the ones that stay and appreciate what ED does offer are in for a great ride.

They never bother to tell you that there is ONLY ONE WAY to POINT your ship on any landing pad in the game. Many new players assume that they can come in from any direction, especially when docking at an Outpost where this singular orientation isn't nearly as obvious as the layout of a Starport docking bay.

Once you are clear on this basic fact, start to use the Pad Number to help determine the front and back of the pad, then your focus can be placed on simply lining up with the navigational aids on your HUD and setting her down nice and easy.

Players are also not made fully aware of their limited range of motion when their landing gear is down. This can be useful in some cases, but if you are slightly sideways and your gear is down, you are not going to be able to correct your alignment without raising your gear first. or just planting the landing and seeing if you are close enough to trigger the docking clamps.

All these things can be observed in action using the new and improved Camera Suite along with an active Docking Computer.

It's fun being a complete noob again in Elite: Dangerous. :D I initially couldn't find how to do left/right lateral thrusters whilst trying to land and ended up leaving the station and cancelling/re-requesting docking before my 10 minute timer ran out.

My PS4 commander is envious of my PC commander's hotas, but I am determined to get used to using the PS4 controller. :)

I was bad at first, little bit down to the controls, big bit down to me thinking "I've done this thousands of times on PC so what can go wrong?" [big grin]

Got the hang of it now and am almost landing as good as I do with a stick, the L3 toggle works well and is intuitive, still have the odd mishap when I get a bit too cocky, in fact I think they've done a great job with the controls as I was a bit worried about being able to play with a controller, I pre ordered on the strength of seeing Thrustmaster support without realising it was only the PS4 specific one that works and not the HOTAS X which I already have, anyway not had any problems with the controls, had a lot of interdiction attempts on me and not lost one yet and only lost one ship in combat so far which was my fault for picking on a bigger ship then getting excited when it's hull was down to 30% thinking I'd got the job done.

I would swear that that was a video of me .... shortly after my numerous failed attempts, i.e. pointed in the WRONG direction & coming down TOO fast, I bought a landing computer. I just recently moth balled it to fly without one ... My instructor, why the DC of course .....
