Video settings look different b/w windowed, full screen?

When I run ED in full screen, the video settings look washed out, not as dark, and sharper. In windowed/borderless, the blacks look as they should, but the resolution doesn't look as sharp. All the settings remain the same, but the final result is totally different on my screen. Any ideas whats going on?

things to try maybe
could be a driver issue so just reinstall the gpu driver
but first delete your gpuworktable.xml from your products folder to ensure the bug or whatever is not stuck in the mem cache
