[Video] Sidewinder vs Viper / Play more - grind less

Hello Commanders

After several weeks in gamma, I am still flying my sidewinder and loving every second. I have been spending some credits on upgrades for the ship, and the only stock item left is the lifesupport.
This does make the sidewinder quite capable, and very fun to fly.

I would like to introduce my first video - captured with an as yet unregistered version of bandicam.

The point of this video is to show that you do NOT need to turn the game into a grind, in order to have fun.
I have just enough assets to turn it all into a stock viper with less than 10000 credits to spare. But... just love the sidey.

I've visited far more than 100 systems, not once have I found any internal upgrade item! All I get is hardpoint stuff like lasers and scanners. Not even Sol has anything for offer? This is the one thing that sucks about this game or maybe I'm speaking a different language than those people at the starports? Am I missing something here?

I found everything I needed for the Sidewinder in Chemaku, at Crampton Port.

Stuff is out there, but can be hard to find.

I took out a Master Viper without taking a shot back, with only the stock sidewinder + A1 power distributor - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=69049

If you spend a bit more time with more pips into engine power, and boost a lot more it'll probably be a bit easier. I completely agree that the Sidey is a great little ship, especially after a jump drive upgrade so you can get places. I got to Sol in mine actually. Tried out the Viper, didn't like it much. My best bounty so far is basically the same as this one, I got 9,375 credits for taking out a Competent Asp in a fully stock Sidewinder. I have the video of it as well but it was full of stutters so didn't bother uploading it.

You're more likely to get good upgrades in High Tech systems I believe.

I'm afraid to tell you that you wouldn't have stood a chance against a human player. You're skills are good, but human pilots are a whole different level. The difference between both ships would've just been too much I think. But that's my opinion of course.

Other than competing with other players of course the game doesn't need to be a grind.

Also, I am your first subscriber! Start churning out Elite videos :)

Against a human player the odds would certainly have been worse by a huge margin.
If both pilots are equally skilled then im sure the sidey would have bit the spacedust, simply due to combat fatique and just having lower hitpoints.

But humans can get scared, and panic. Thats a feeling I know all too well - and it usually ends up in a plethora of mistakes, button-screw-ups and yelling at the screen.
Still the Viper can just outrun the Sidewinder if the pilot so chooses.

Also, the chaff has saved my buts lots and lots of times. Being able to interfer with the opponenets advantage (gimbals) litteraly handicaps him quite a bit.
