A great video. It really gave it some context. You could bbq a pork chop from the furthest corner of that system.

yea it would be funny if stars affected ship temperature and such, like it being really hot at the center of the galaxy or something, and gravity, having to fight against the cosmic streams of gravity

Good stuff! I plan to visit it myself one of these days.

However, thanks to recent measurements by the Very Large Telescope, VY Canis Majoris has lost its top place as the biggest star to UY Scuti, which is not included in ED - unfortunately!

It should look different than that though. I think super giants actually have a lumpy and more "fluffy" look

Seems appropriate to need something called the Very Large Telescope to measure the galaxy's largest star.

I think the biggest one is this UY Scuti allthough they (the scientists) aren't 100% sure this is true.

Betelgeuse < VY Canis Majoris < NML Cygni < UY Scuti
