[Video] Trading On The Black Market

In this video I have aquired some cargo cannisters from an Anaconda trying to park in an asteroid, so I go to sell them on the black market.

I dock at the station with air traffic control making my life a little interesting.

The station feels much more alive as there are quite a few pilots there with me, even one making a bit of a mess entering the station....

For those that have played the previous phases of Elite Dangerous Alpha it turns out those Anacondas in the asteroid field were ripping us off with the value of iron ore!

I think next up is time to carry out some piracy and see if that can be profitable!

Thanks! I was wondering how the black market bit would work. I must admit to feeling a little dubious of having it part of the main space station services system.

Seems a bit like arriving at Heathrow and seeing that customs has another lane now: "Goods to declare", "No goods to declare", "Arrivals from the EU" and the not suspicious at all "Smugglers".

Your right having the 'black market' so open is odd, but I assume it's only there to be tested and when the game is live, you will have to journey to a pirate base.

Oh right, sorry must have missed it! Thanks for the video then ;)

to be fair it is not the main focus of the video, i thought it would be nice to show the station when it was really busy. Following the ship into the station is my highlight of 3.0 so far.

Yeah I assume it is just a place holder to get rid of our cargo during alpha.

Yes, the black market option is very out of place isn't it.

Makes you wonder how they are going to implement this in the final build. I thought it would need to be something isolated from the normal ship/station interface, but the DDFA states ...

"Black Markets – private markets accessible based on player reputation, trades illegal commodities, requires contact to access, can be part of a legal market"

Not sure if that is a place holder now.

Three 'illegal' market types available ... Black markets, Pirate bases, and Smuggler bases.

Am also interested to see this. I think once we have the more advanced real trade interface this might fit in a little better. Even more so when we can go and see specific people in the station. It is mentioned in the DDF that to get to use the blackmarket, contacts etc will have to be made first so it should not be a standard option.
