Elite / Frontier Videos from original disk

Hi gamers ,
I've just downloaded the FFE D3D from the web-site. I extracted the files only to find there wasn't any of the videos of the characters when you go into the shipyard / bulletin board / stock market etc. I actually have the original disk of first encounters, I copied and pasted the folder "data" with all the video in the FFE D3D folder. When I go into the shipyard now for example the sound works (character talking) but the video doesn't , these are .AVI files. Does anybody know how I get both sound & videos working on this game?

Unfortunately the videos won't work in D3D.
There's a rumour that they will in the next release, but it's anyone's guess when that will be.
