Newcomer / Intro Views inside cockpit and outside camera

Morning Commanders,

I was looking for the keyboard commands for a "free" camera view for both inside and outside the ship. I can see that ctrl-shift-space gives access to preset views but I was hoping to have a way of scrolling around, zoom in and out, pitch etc. Most other games I've played use the mouse to achieve this.

What are the key commands I need to look at to bind to something that works for me?

You need to bind them in the controls settings.

As for what exactly works for you, well, you're going to have to find out by trial and error.
It depends on whether you have a HOTAS or mouse and keyboard, whether you want to control the ship while in camera mode or you just want nice screenshots, etc. Everything's there, everything is bindable.

When you do that the HUD for the camera should change and using the (many) controls you had to bind should move the camera around as long as it started in one of the three external slots some of the internal ones seem more limited.
If in an external camera the hud doesn't change check the bindings again as there are lots of them and most are unbound by default.

Free camera allows you to look around the cockpit, assuming you've set up the up, down, etc binds.. this is from a fixed point


Ctrl-Shift-Space take you into Camera Suite which has its own binds. You can bind a "Free Cam" bind in this mode too but this will allow you to move the camera the camera whatever which way you wish. its all about the binds you pick then testing..
