General / Off-Topic Vikings the TV show

how do you pronounce Ø

It is the sound of almost choking on a potato, naturally.

It's like a short "ooer" to my ears.

Øllebrød is clearly a Viking breakfast btw
A good day of marauding should always start with beer and old rye bread scraps made into porridge.

It is also a great way to send the children off to school, thus all the rosy-cheeked Danish kids .

Rollo was a duke of France as far as I can read on the internet

"was a Viking who became the first ruler of Normandy, a region of France. He is sometimes called the 1st Duke of Normandy. His Scandinavian name Rolf was extended to Gaange Rolf because he as an adult became too heavy for a horse to carry, therefore he had to walk ("gaa" in older Dano-Norwegian). Rollo emerged as the outstanding personality among the Norsemen who had secured a permanent foothold on Frankish soil in the valley of the lower Seine. Charles the Simple, the king of West Francia, ceded them lands between the mouth of the Seine and what is now the city of Rouen in exchange for Rollo agreeing to end his brigandage, and provide the Franks with protection against future Viking raids."

So the Gauls,Franks, and Vikings was actually mixed? that is new to me.

Vikings as a culture get even more interesting as time progresses into the written period, particularly when they get all messed up in the Byzantine Empire's wars.

Yes, we should all start the day with ale, meat and old old bread porridge, sounds like a good way to start the day, sadly I'm a descendant of wimpy englishmen, mixed with some other parts of unknown origin. Maybe if we go back long enough, some viking dna was mixed into the pool :D
