Viper for bounty hunting, which ship for trading/exploring?

So my Viper is now fully upgraded and I'm at 1M CR right now. When the right ships are there I can make 200-300k CR in 30-40 minutes.

It's all fun but I want to try out trading and also exploring. My viper has no cargo hold, only 15LY jump distance & the view isn't that pretty. I'm playing with the Oculus Rift DK2 and I want to see what's going on around me.

So which ship should I buy for trading & exploring? Cobra, Type 6 or save enough money for an ASP?

It all depends on how much you want to spend hehe

the cobra is a good all rounder so it can actually act as combat/trade/exploration without too many sacrifices.
as for dedicated ships, the best trading ships are the lakons, the type 6 can get a decent 100T cargo and type 7 about 200T
for exploring on the other hand you probably want jump range and for that the best 2 ships are the asp (34/35 LY fit for exploration) or the hauler (about 30LY fit for exploration)

Trading/exploring/combat - Cobra/asp imo..

I got a Cobra and millions in my bank account. For now i have no plans for Type6 or Asp, really liking the Cobra atm. Its a kick ass allrounder ship.

I used hauler/adder as Explorer. And im goin back to exploring, but in Cobra with best scanner and fsd

How much money do I need to get the ASP to a 30LY jumprange? And what's the max jump range of the Cobra?

Cobra then t6 then t7 if you can find a good non-outpost route.

The cobra can jump over 20ly with around 15-20ly laden, depending on how you outfit it.

You should only get an asp if you want to mix combat and trading - a very fun career path BTW - as it's not worth the cost as a pure trader.

Once you have a t6 or a rare trading cobra, you can get enough for an asp or t7 over time.

to answer the 30LY question on the asp

the A5 FSD is about 5M Cr so your looking at about 12MCr for the asp and the FSD

honestly tho the B5 is good enough at 1.5M Cr don't think it will get you 30LY tho

I'm currently 5,500 lightyears from home in my cobra, exploring the systems on my way to a target point 7,000 lightyears from home.

The cobra works extremely well for exploring. You don't need anything more, but the Asp is superlative in the role. I THINK, but don't know, that the Anaconda will be an even better exploration ship, but that's going to take me some time to test

Viper is my favourite for combat, and I love my Type 7 for trade.
