I used to pilot a Cobra with these hardpoints:
- 2x Pulse Laser (Fixed), class 2
- 2x Multi-Cannons (Gimballed), class 1
I chose gimballed multi-cannons only because the small hardpoints on the Cobra are so far apart, which meant I didn't get a focused manual aim. Eventually I chose to switch to the Viper, which has a focused aim on both the medium and small hardpoints.
Now I pilot a Viper with these hardpoints:
- 2x Beam Lasers (Fixed), class 1
- 2x Multi-Cannons (Fixed), class 2
The idea is to use the small lasers to bring down the shield, then use the larger multi-cannons to rip apart the hull.
My problem is that despite the more focused multi-cannon aim, I find it very hard to hit anything with them. I aim perfectly with the lasers, but the multi-cannons feel very off, and tend to shoot below the target, but not always. Perhaps it's just a lack of experience, but in any case I'd appreciate some advice on using fixed multi-cannons. It's a matter of pride for me to aim the weapons myself, but perhaps there are better alternatives for me.
