Viper max jump range with best FSD

Does anyone have a rough idea of the Viper jump range with the best/most expensive FSD available? Obviously I know this depends on my weight and load out. I have 12 cargo space, 4 weapons and a few other bits but my jump range is now terrible.

My type 6 went from 12 to about 30(initial FSD to the top FSD) , 2.5 times approximately, I remember having a viper in the high teens for jump range(about 17 or 18 iirc) which is also about 2.5 times

Can you remember what you paid? I'd be happy with around 10 jump range but high teens sound amazing ha.

Well if you viper takers class 3 FSD(I think) then it was around 500k , my 4A FSD was about 1.6M for the type 6

My Viper was doing slightly over 20LY with the best FSD available in Beta 2. I paid 500k for a D3. Which I think would now be called an A3?

CLASS C FSD here. 18Ly. ~150 000CR

If you can't find an FSD upgrade all your other components, always tending toward lighter components (many high quality components are lighter in addition to their other improved stats). With the default FSD I have my viper at about 11Ly - which is enough to access nearly all systems.

Also, don't be scared to lose stuff you don't use. E.g. My viper is combat only, so I ditched the cargo bay.

and where the hell did you manage to get that? i gave up since NO station was selling FSD...

If memory serves (which is bad as it was only last night!) it's one of the industrial systems over by Herecles. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong or name the actual system.
There were loads of upgrades for the Viper which was great as somehow after jumping out of a battle I seemed to have misplaced mine so had to swap ships for another and then re-upgrade its parts.

I currently have about 9Ly jump range, and I'm desperately looking for a better FSD and better thrusters before I start doing some serious bounty hunting. Last night I spent 2 hours going from station to station trying to find a good FSD... I have no idea where this Herecles system is, but next time I play I'll try to see if I can get there!

Luck. I think it was one of the high tech Wolf systems near Arcturus. I visited about 25 systems prior to that and not a single upgrade (apart from weapons) was to be found.

This is the only real serious limitation I find with the Viper once you gear up your hyper space range drops to 6-7 LY fully laden. If you can get 10+ geared up this is a great longer fighter/assassin/pirate ship.

I have visited so many High Tech systems which was nearly always the best place to find FSD and Thruster upgrades before. I have now got class A in almost everything but still cannot find thrusters or FSD. Am I looking in the wrong markets? Are the engine upgrades more likely available in industrial systems? Any help would be appreciated.

If I remember right though (please, correct me if I'm wrong!) but Cargo Bays in particular don't have an inherent weight so don't affect your mass for jump purposese?

I spent about 3 hours looking in all sorts of systems in stations and outpost, but i have not fount any FSD or thruster upgrades.

I have even been to stations that had outfitting, but there was nothing for sale at all.

The top of the line gear was always hard to find, but i simply can't find anything.

Just some weps, cheap scanners and schield.

Strangely though the newly availible gear like the fuelscoop, interdiction thingy and refinery are all availible from the cheapest to the top of the line moddels!?

Bug perhaps?

I'm 90% sure I got my best upgrades from an industrial system rather than high tech

He's right - the racking for cargo is non-negligable mass - when you put cargo there then it affects the mass.

I got my class C FSD for my Viper in Zeta Herculis. It wasn't there the first time I went there, but it was the second.

Another system you might try is G180-18, which has three stations with outfitters and usually a decent assortment of stuff.
