Ships Viper MKIII or Adder :)

I can much easier afford an Adder and I'm mainly interested in missions, and I want to get into mining. But I also would like something "tough" in case I get in a bind. So, Adder, or Viper MKIII? :)

ViperIII is fighter. And very good one. But doing anything other than figting in it will be a pain - low jump range, small/few internals.
Adder is by far less capable in combat, but has better range and more internals => better for multipurpose use.

Surprisingly they cost almost the same to A spec, if you get into a bind the Vipers speed is your friend but the Adder has better range and cargo capacity, if you want to try mining both are capable but you'll have to manually scoop the ore (a Cobra 3 or 4 makes a much better miner).

I like the Adder but I find the cockpit view very distracting but I'd also choose the Viper for its much higher speed, better firepower and shields, it's what I use in CZ's because it's small, fast and hard to hit.

Does it turn fast? I noticed the Sidewinder is a bit "sluggish". I may try some better thrusters before I change ships. :D

Great, thanks for the feedback!

The Sidewinder is one of the most agile ships in ED only the Eagle and Vulture are better, the Viper although it's fast isn't that agile so I fit mine with small pulse turrets to keep hitting the target as I line up the medium gimballed weapons, it works rather well :)

If you haven't tried it already the Flight Assist Off/boost turn is the way to turn quickly, switch off the Flight assist, turn and hit the boost then turn the FA back on when you've finished turning takes a little practice to get it right but its worth the effort.

Viper is a pure fighter. It can barely do anything else. But as a fighter, it's really good.

The Adder is a great all round ship. Probably the first of the multipurpose ships. It's firepower and defensive capability isn't as strong as a Viper, but it's internals are pretty good and it has much better jump range.

Viper is probably one of the best dogfighting experiences in this game.
Go for it, it's the best moment to have it.

You'll enjoy multi-purpose ships with a Cobra (a must have in this game) later on.

I definitely want something I can do bounties with and not get my ass handed to me. :)

Then the Viper is for you.

Make a little extra credits with your Viper, then buy and build a D-Rated Adder, as she can Explore, run courier and mine all day long. Upgrade as you go. This is exactly how I started ED.

Cool! I need to save first. I have enough to get the Viper, but no modules. :)
