Viper or Cobra?

So I cant decide on if i should get a Viper or Cobra?

Wondered if ther were any super geeks that could give me pros and cons apart from the obvious cargo hold

Discuss =D

Do you need more than cargo space than 8 units? If yes, it's the Cobra, if no the Viper would be the primary choice.
The Cobra most certainly have stronger shields, but then again, the Viper is faster so it should be able to dictate the terms of a fight.

Is there anywhere you can see the stats of the ships, I am kinda wanting to maybe do a bit of pirating/combat inbetween trading whhile i work my way up to an anaconda or something.

My friend said he thinks the eagle is best?

If the viper has 8 unit capacity then it seems a good step forward from a Sidey, does anyone know how many hard points a viper has?

Viper has same hardpoints as Cobra, but as I understand it is faster.

If you fight more than you trade, get a Viper.
If you trade more than you fight, get a Cobra.

I've taken Cobra for now, I've equipped it with weapons etc but still gonna trade a bit more to earn a nice fallback of cash then going to give the Viper a try.

Was easy to earn more than enough to get to this point in a Hauler. I've got to learn to fight properly so with a nice cushion of cash in the bank I plan to test the more combat ready ships.

The Viper is a dedicated combat vessel with a lot of range, speed and maneuvrability.
The Cobra is a multipurpose ship capable of both combat and trading.
Both ships have a pair of class 2 and a pair of class 4 hardpoints.

Really could do with some in-game stats for when you're looking at ships, weapons and sundries in the purchase lists. I hope it's on the 'to do' list!

What are the jump ranges of a Viper with all equipment slots filled, and 0t/8t cargo?

And for the Cobra?

Thanks in advance :)

No idea, but I've had them both, and I didn't had the idea I was limited in any way. With the Sidi and Hauler yes, but not with the viper or Cobra.

I first want to grind another fortune, but them I'll be back for the Viper. Speed is the only thing I'm after, and this thing has it all. Boost 3 times, and you can dock. It's very maneuverable and can be armed pretty good. The hull size won't matter in the end. Ending up with a more money then you can spend is only a matter of time.

Well, all I can say is that a Viper with 2C4 and 2C2 cannot jump from Bootis to Eranin. 2C4 and 1C2 makes this jump possible.

Seconded. I mean, I'm definitely sure that this is something that they're working on, but I'd like to throw in my vote for moving it up the priority list. :p

One of the fun parts of MMOs, for me, is spending oodles of time investigating what various skills/abilities do, working out good rotations and key-bindings, trying to figure out a great ship choice & outfitting, etc.

Seeing as how outfitting-items are too expensive to just buy them all & play around with swap-outs (which is fine), I'd really like to be able to sit in dock and read over and compare the bunch before risking my creds on an unknown item.

Example: I just bought a C2 Cannon for my Sidewinder, and I had really no idea at all what it did or looked like. Just thought it kinda sounded neat, but I'd REALLY like to know if it does more of a certain kind of damage, ammo-supply, fire-rate, etc. :)

Thanks for a great game,
Jake

Just bought the Viper from Aulin Enterprises (best place to buy ships in the local systems) chopped my Hauler in and paid 73K for it.

I was saving for a Cobra but saw a vid of some dude scrapping it out in the Eranin warzone in a Viper like a boss and decided that after 2 days solid grinding in a hauler i needed to have some fun.

DAMN ITS SICK !!!!

Seriously just buy one. You can always get a MKIII later.

AWESOME fighter, fast as lightning, amazing handling, covered in battle scars.

Pure fun, if you are bored grinding and need to get in something wild Viper is the ticket
