Ship Builds & Load Outs Viper Mk III Viper3 for hunting Scouts?

I have a Viper3 sitting around idle, and thought maybe I could kit it out to fight Scouts. Keeping in mind that I'm dreadful at combat, at least the rebuy will be cheap.

What do I need? Are AX multis sufficient? I don't have any guardian weapons unlocked at the moment. Lots of hull reinforcments? Anything else in particular?
 
If you're going AX multi turrets in AX cz's you'll want to kill steal locals. Run when interceptors show up. Reinstance.

Guardian rails would be better, but take a bit of skill.

Guardian shards would work, but you'd need to be up close - and that can be annoying when they pop and spooge all over you.

Hull reinforcements and a decon limpet controller are standard gear.

Any of the chieftain series ships are decent entry level ships for AX combat - although I have frequently seen one guy running around in a Viper MIV. Pretty sure he had Guardian rails.
 
For fighting thargoid scout any decent combat fit will do. You don't need AX weaponry either you can kill them easily enough with normal weapons....

I used to do it in my all laser keelback to level up my crew.

Do AX weapons get any boost against them? Or rather, do normal weapons have any penalty like they do against the big bugs? If they're the same, does that mean gimballed multis are better than turreted AX multis?
