I work for a company that's involved in Aviation/Space, and I was speaking to someone today who 2 years ago made some simple calculations, which I find a bit disturbing, despite that we move forward technologically and the stats might not mean a damn.
Based on stats from current space flights, you get a major failure every 50 flights that break atmosphere. Virgin Galactic plan to fly once every 2 weeks.
Space flight is still very hard.
We should stop playing games and think about how to fix that. Or say to Richard Branson, "Have you considered building a Sidewinder?"
No offence meant by that. The designers are breaking new ground, and the test pilots are willing to risk it all so we can take advantage of that in the future.
From Marie Curie to Michael Alsbury, thankyou all.
RIP Michael Alsbury, pushing the envelope and pushing us forward.
