that's a bummer. i really couldn't care much about a 5-mode switch and some fancy led lights ...
if that's all what the feedback came up with, then there was nothing wrong with the original prototype (disclaimer: didn't read any of the feedback, just commenting on virpil's statement).
I kinda get the LED, it's for visibility in a dark room, though I find I very quickly have the muscle memory thing kick in. There is also some noise for moving the thumb stick to the front of the throttle to use as an index finger analog stick.
I'm in the thumb stick camp, as I'm used to is from my CH pro, though I do see the point a lot of folk are making, as there are lots of buttons need the thumb, and having an analog stick there only increases the workload on the thumb, with a very underworked set of digits on the rest of the throttle.
As I am not in the market as potential early adopter anyway, the delay doesn't affect me. But listening to and evaluating feeback is generally a very, very good thing. While I may sneer at Saitek products for flashy LEDs, I can see how they are very useful for that build in switchboard in the throttle's base. Too many swiches to fumble around in the dark. As for that 5 way switch instad of a toggle switch, if enough potential customers were asking for it, chances are, they have a very real and practical use for it. Better they work this feedback into the design now, than to release a slight revision of the thing half a year after release, leaving early adopters in the dust.
I'm generally mroe interested in how the throttle's build quality will eventually end up.
Agreed - remember, most of the people buying it are DCS/combat flight sim folks, ED players will make up a small number of people purchasing this sort of hardware. Heck, most folk see a T16000M FCS setup as exorbitant in terms of pricing, try and explain why a base, with no stick, is worth more than an entire T16000M HOTAS... You need to be dedicated to go the high end HOTAS route, generally, DCS folks are, ED folks, mostly not to the same extent.
ED also benefits from having a very good control setup that works fairly evenly well with pretty much all types of controller, which means we have top players using XB1 controllers, KB & Mouse, and full blown $1000 HOTAS set ups.
