Ok, all you naysayers out there have me convinced that my beloved X-55 is going to self destruct any day now!
No biggie if it does, I've had three good years of regular hard use out of it, with (hopefully!) at least another year, possibly more, to come.
The problem is, if/when it does fail, I really don't like the look of the new X-56. I've tried the Warthog and didn't get on with it at all. Aaaand I'm not keen on moving to a T.1600M, which kind of narrows the field down a fair bit.
Now if you play combat flight sims, or even just Warthunder, you're probably used to some Eastern European joker pulling off all sorts of unlikely aerial shenanigans. Given the stereotypical PC master race view of those chaps' potato computers, you've probably wondered what the secret is?
It's actually lots of skill and practice!
But hey, you can usually get away with consoling yourself by thinking he or she is playing on minimal graphics settings with uber trick throttles and sticks.
There are any number of amazingly exotic (to Western eyes, anyway) control setups out East. The new kid on the block is VirPil, with some very reasonably priced incredibly high specced controllers.
Now so far their output has mainly been a T.50 inspired stick with a high quality desk mount, but they're moving into space sim controllers, warbird grips and a soon to be finalised throttle design, with pedals on the near horizon.
Their kit looks amazing, but before I go throwing away the kids inheritance on a new shiny, I'd really like to hear from someone who's actually used their gear.
Has anyone on here had any experience with the company? Is the gimbal as good as they claim? How does the Mongoos grip compare to the mighty Hog? Has anyone tried fitting the desk mount- in part or whole- ito a simpit?
I need to know now, before the Rhino becomes extinct...
