Virtual Desktop Overlay for Steam VR, Onscreen Keyboard works in ED!!!

Anyone else noticed this new option for Virtual Desktop? I can now watch Youtube again whilst in ED... Another really great feature is I can now use the on screen keyboard to input text into ED !!! Finally !!! Virtual Desktop Overlay is not quite as good as Oculus dash, as you cannot pull out a specific window, but you can show your entire desktop etc... No more having to remove my headset to type in ED yay , still quite cumbersome, but better than what we had lol

Can't wait to try this out. I've been waiting until I'm docked and hitting Oculus home to get to my virtual desktop and typing by feel.

It's a nice addition. Have to go to the experimental in options and enable virtual in order to pull apps from the desktop and pin them in the game.

It's what I use for twitch chat. Have not tried to pull in stuff like YouTube or watching a movie using vlc though and it only shows up to me. Doesn't display through twitch so people don't see it.

Not sure what you mean here... I just downloaded it through steam and integrated it to start with SteamVR. Quite liking it so far, still has some 'quirks' but I am finding some work arounds... For example, it displays the desktop, not individual windows like Oculus Desktop, so what ever has focus take sup the screen etc... I have simply moved windows around on the desktop to accommodate what I want, but it is quite cumbersome etc..

Thanks for clearing that up. SteamVR has its own built in 'Virtual Desktop' and it was unclear as to if you meant that (which has not changed at all), now I see that you are referring to a third party application.

Yup, sorry about that , pretty good, but should get better with time . I actually find it much better than the built in steam version as you can use the onscreen keyboard etc.. I have even used it with Inara and copied and pasted locations into the Galaxy Map etc..
