Virtual reality can cure phobias (allegedly)

An Aussie professor claims VR can cure phobias and I'm curious as to what phobia you're hoping it will help you overcome - if her allegation is actually true.

Mine is fear of heights.

VR is a tool, and will likely soon be a tool in alot of hospitals toolkits. Youtube shows all sort of tests with VR, including helping people who are coming out of comas. Depending on how well its used or not I have read it can work to help overcome phobias. Public speaking would be a good one. How about going into Grand Theft Auto in VR and going to a street corner and do a speech :). If no bullets come your way, you are doing ok :).

Have you been doing the coasters or planes, skydiving in VR?

I know of a very serious study here in stockholm who compare treatment of spider phobia in VR/DK2, with the conventional methods.
I attended a talk at out last VR meetup with one of the founders @mimerse, and it looks very promising.
