Visual improvements I'd like to see

What do think had the most impact on performance gain 2080ti or 9900k?

I did them at the same time so I don't know this time around, but I do know both make a difference, given that I did do it separately last time. Switching from a 3rd gen i5 to an i7 7700K made a huge difference by itself, especially in Elite and Space Engine. I think clock speed matters far more than number of cores etc.

What motherboard are you using?

MSI Z390-A PRO

drkai i too have a.

i9 9900k
evga ftw 3 2080ti
asus maximus 10 hero
3200 v ram
samsung ssd evo
vive pro

steam ss 130%
steam elite app 100%
elite ingame ss 1.0
hmd 1.0
motion smoothing is off . i fid it more stuttery when it kicks in then just leaving it off

i saw that you said you get 90 fps locked with max settings and hmd at 1.5. so my question to you is do you get any fps drop in rez/conflict zones? on my system i can get 90 fps most everywhere except in those areas . i will get constant fps drops which means stutter which sucks. since we have similar systems and you are running a much higher hmd ss with locked 90 fps .im just wondering what im doing wrong and if you have any tips so i can get rid of the emersion breaking intermitent stutter. thanks for reading.

I didn't say I get locked 90fps, I I use motion smoothing so probably always locked at 45, but the distortion is only bad when you are losing a lot of frames, and so I rarely notice the distortion as most of the time I am not losing them. I find it WAY smoother with motion smoothing, I am not sure how you can say it is stuttery. In res I get a bit more distortion than usual. I play very different settings and tolerance levels than you for motion smoothing I think.

Thank you for responding. every little bit of advice and knowledge helps.

I'm running a 9900k and a 1080ti, neither overclocked. My ingame ss = 1.0, HMD Q = 1.0, SteamSS = 2.0, all in game quality setting at max.

The game runs very very smooth at 90hz. I occasionally check my steam performance stats and it stays below 11.0ms, with a spike here and there.

I'm very happy with the 1080ti. The graphics quality is amazing with the above settings. I see no visible difference between running HMD higher and adjusting SteamSS higher.

Steam SS is scaled linearly, so 2.0 steam SS is roughly equivalent to 1.4 HMD Quality.
