Visual indicator of mapped planets on System Map

It would be nice to have a visual indicator on each planet that we have mapped, rather than having to hover over each one and see the "You have mapped this planet" text.

Maybe a small indicator dot next to the planet, or an occasional shimmer of the lat/long grid. Something to make it easier to know, "Hey, I wanted to map that planet and I have/haven't yet!"

Nothing even has to be added, it could be a small change, like changing the text color of a mapped planet's name label from orange to green.

One of the questions I always have to ask for this sort of request....explain why your addition to the system map should be implemented when all the other requests for visual markers for various different features are not implemented. Why is your more important than any of the others?

I assure you there have been quite a few over the years, I suspect none of them are actioned because to action them all would make the systems map a visual cluttered mess where the information you are looking or would actually be harder to see, and to action one would bring up complaints of favouritism and unfairness.

I'd really, really look forward to this. Knowing at a glance whether you've explored/mapped at a glance would make the double-checking a lot easier - mousing over each body or the even slower method of selecting each body on the nav panel feels way too slow, and prone to mistakes.

For those who'd prefer not having the extra colors/layers, a toggle could be added to the system map display options.

I see what you're saying, but that's where filters come into play. A person can select "Explorer" pre-defined filters and it apply colors and things for that role.

Explain when others are not implemented? This question is about the same as asking "Why save the ozone layer when people are starving?" Ideas don't need to be mutually exclusive...

Then it's not a simple update is it, requires new menus and filters and etc, new ways to access them. They aren't implemented because while it's a small visual change it's probably a major code change for the system map.

Ummmm, if role= explorer and planet=scanned then color=blue else color=white, I think you're making the assumption that because something has not been done that it is super difficult. Not necessarily true.

Honestly it doesn't even need to assume roles, it's even simpler. Just an extra option here like "Show mapped colors".

I think everyone that has written more than 10 lines of code have experienced that going back to said code later made it more difficult to read/change than it was when the code was originally written. I don't know, but I would assume that that phenomena even has some sort of buzzword attached to it today.

Still, it seems amazing, bordering to strange, that Fdev were able to achieve what they did when they made this game in the first place. How did they do that, and how did they end up where they are now, where every little suggestion in the suggestion section of the forum is met by an answer like the one you give above? Don't get me wrong. It is not, that I necessarily disagree with you. I don't think the OP suggestion has any chance. I'm just curious towards the whole mechanism.

I like the ideas that I am seeing coming from this. Good creative conversations can improve things, even if it's just to set groundwork for future efforts.

I found that by putting an ignore on certain unnamed users, that my life is much better overall and inane negative whining is no longer holding back otherwise useful conversations.
Some people just like to whine and complain, and seem to feel if they do enough of it people will remember them. It's to the contrary, but it seems to keep them busy.

Thinking on this even further, I would imagine the least intensive adjustment that could be made would be to have a token appear on the name of a planet after being scanned. Such as, the name when hovered over would go from "BUNDA 1" to "BUNDA 1 🔵" (small dot would be more sensible, but you get the idea)

But better would be the image I mocked up. Easy to tell it's been scanned, it's not in the way, and it gives a quick overview of what you've done so far.

Perhaps also in the orrery view, to have a notation on the map names. When there are multiple planets together (I believe indicated with a "+"?) that it could be color coded. One color to indicate all mappable objects have been mapped, and another for partial mapping completed. No change if no mapping has occurred.
