Vivarium question

Just wondered if the spiders and snakes and frogs move round in the vivariums as i had some during the beta but despite watching them regularly i never saw any of them move

They don't move per se, but they do change positions within the vivarium.
(probably only when nobody's looking)
I don't know that this is true. I did stare at my Tarantulas for way too long to see if they were animated at all and they do seem to move albeit incredibly slowly.

They are animated, but they don't really move around. (At least according to the dev post - I haven't really spent time during beta to test it.) But every time you get back to the vivarium, they are "spawned" somewhere else.

Vivarium animals have loop animations. For example the boa may flick its tongue in and out, or move its head up and down. These animations are all fixed position; animals are unable to move freely around the vivarium. However, as previously mentioned, there are multiple preset locations in each vivarium at which they can "spawn". This teleportation only occurs off-camera, e.g. when the player is not watching. This mechanic gives some impression that these animals move, while presumably considerably cutting down on the amount of time the designers have to put into coding each animal and in-game computing power they require. I'd say it's a reasonable compromise given that if you were to walk through a real-life reptile house (herpatarium) these animals do not tend to move much. It would be nice to see some animals, like the poison dart frogs, move more. I also worry that it will limit future additions, such as the ability to have aquatic turtles.
