Vive article and staff comments from Tom's Hardware

FYI: Tom's Hardware has an article on the Vive release. See article here if you wish: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/htc-vive-pricing-revealed,31242.html

What I found a little troubling was a comment made by a staff writer. If you look down at the comments, he ( Kevin Carbotte - Kcarbotte ) responds to another comment about using a 980ti, and in part, says:

"Elite Dangerous works with Vive, but from my experience with it, It's not ideal. You need a much more powerfull rig to play the game. It was the only one not designed for VR from the start at the showcase, and it was the only one that dipped below 90fps, and the only game at the showcase that anyone reported getting motion sickness."

I always suggest people read the whole article and both comment/reply to form their own opinion, but it was not the sort of comment an ED player would hope for.

edit: added quote marks.

I think that FD sunk most of their time into getting the DK2 compatible with Elite. Now they are probably more concerned with their other projects than to sink more time into products that don't have completed sdk's or consumer versions available.

I would bet that they are not even close to finishing optimization for any vr headset just yet.

Knowing that FDev including their owner are quite interested in VR, after all they were the first triple A studio to support the rift, that they have stated multiple times that they are looking forward to support future technology that they will give the game the attention it deserve.

We are a bunch of self entitled impatient wanna have it all now generation, so of course the sky is falling if it actually takes a while before the support gets baked in.

Remember, the game has at minimum a 3 years expansion plan and I suspect that Mr Braben would like it to last 10+ years so the tech will be kept current at some point.
