Vive CV1 lower resolution?

In diffrent post: fdev has the issue figured out and it'll be fixed by the time Vive CV1s go out, so it shouldn't be a problem for anyone by the time Vives appear en masse

It seems that game in Vive CV1 still renders in lower resolution resulting in pixelated mess or no AA for mid/far objects. I have fresh install as it is new PC. Settings should be no issue as they are from most recent build.

Not only the resolution, but the contrast/gamma seems screwed as well. Very, very dark, or very very bright depending on the surroundings. There's no real middle ground where I can make out all the details.

Interesting, those using the DK2 could complain the opposite. It's too bright, especially space and the surrounding galaxy starfield gases.

What resolution in-game is supposed to be selected when using an HMD? I have a CV1.
In-game resolution has nothing to it. You can set it up to 4k in game and make your graphic card burn but Vive will still have HMD settings. For me only visible change was super sampling to 1.5 or 2 but on to i had fps drops to 40. When set on 2 and game had 45 fps it looked fine. I can't tell if ss 2.0 looks the same or worse vs resolution after bug fix but for sure it looks much better than without ss.

The in-game resolution setting doesn't matter. It only affects the desktop window on your monitor.

The he only way to influence the resolution on the Vive right now is to ramp up the Supersampling. If your rig has the power to run the game that way.

Is this setting being set somewhere on Vive? Basically anything less than <1.0 on this is rendering at a downscaled resolution.

It should be the Supersampling setting. It has a number of settings below the default "1x". I believe .5x, .65x, and maybe one other. Where 1x = 100%. Then there are the settings above 1x, which are 1.5x and 2x. Those 2 settings put tremendous strain on the GPU.

The game defaults to 1x.
