vive physical setup for ED

Hi guys, im still waiting for my Vive to arrive (as are many of you no doubt!) but I have been thinking about set up and how to do it within the space that I have to game in and also so that my girlfriend doesnt go ballistic when she sees the state of the room.

As I am (for now) really only interested in playing ED with the new piece of kit I was wondering if you guys (who have it or the pre) had set your up for seated gaming and if so how did you do it? Ive read some people sying you can have just the one base station and still get tracking, anyone doing this?

thanks in advance and bring on May (my expected delivery month!)

I'm got the Vive on Friday,it's very easy to set up. Plug it in, connect it to your PC. Run steam VR. For the walk around experience I put the lighthouses high up on opposite sides of the room.
For ED I just have them either side of me, on my desktop, and that works fine.. Haven't tried it with one lighthouse, but having them either side of you on your work surface, takes up no space, so your girlfriend should have nothing to complain about.
Hope this helps.

For a 4 hour seated/standing test last night in my tiny pc room I had the two lighthouses on gorillapod tripods, one at head height and the other at desk height. It worked fine and I could do a 180 head turn with full tracking.

I wall-mounted both sensors - the SteamVR doesn't initialise if both aren't on. I have the space to set up room-space, but didn't as the only VR game I currently have is E: D. Still waiting for the download codes for the games that came with the Vive. I also have camera mounts in case I ever want to take the Vive elsewhere.

The main issue for me was that my computer wasn't in the same room as my kit (which is a full surround set-up with projector). The Vive headset will not work over a long DisplayPort or HDMI lead (I need 5m lead to connect to the computer). I had to move the computer upstairs to get things working.
