Vive Pro Discussion Thread

Hi

Anyone else got a Vive Pro? I can't get it working with Elite, the base stations always disappear and then Elite starts, VR seems to be working as far as it is concerned (curved menu etc), but the HMD isn't tracking at all.

The Vive Pro software is extremely buggy at the moment, so could be down to that.

Has anyone else got it working with Elite?

Sorry to hear about the problems, I have to say it was the easiest exchange I have ever done. Swapped out the original Vive, make sure the usb is in a '3' slot and let windows find and install.
And away it went.

I am having the odd tracking issue, but it only lasts 2 or 3 seconds. A good judder and back.

Lol a good way to start the vive pro discussion thread! Just hoping I can return it ASAP. Its probably the link box tbh

I’m absolutely loving it.

Yes, I’ve been addicted to ED since the beta, but this makes the whole game totally new to me.

First landing on a planet... Wow!
First scuffle in a Haz Rez... Wow!
First Capital ship in a Combat Zone... is that?!

The only problem I’ve had with it is that I can’t play direct from the Vive Home, I need to start the Elite launcher on my desktop and then run the game from there. From the Vive Home it doesn’t see any of my Custom Binds, so the Warthog becomes a heavier than normal paperweight...

I've got a Vive Pro, and it works like a dream! What you have to do though is: install Steam VR beta! In there is a section you can do manual override for the resolution (I've got a 1070, so normally the Steam VR sets resolution of 70% of its maximum). Put the manual override at 100%; you'll notice your card will start to make some more noise, but the image is fab!!! In Steam VR you'll see in the diagnostics part some lost frames, but: when you're using the Vive Pro, you don't notice a thing!
So, I totally happy! (Even more with Voice Attack and the Astra HCS Voice pack).

I just bought the vive pro , the old vive is back in the box and will be heading to my son as a gift.

It works wonderfully, no issues, text is very clear, great tracking, very comfortable to wear. IF there is an issue it's the built in mic doesn't always come on right away using voice attack. Sometimes it is quirky (or I accidentally hit the mute button on the ear piece) and you have to set the voice attack software to use active window instead of elite client, but I absolutely love the new vision aspect , the game still looks awesome!

I had my Pro for some time and it is really great in all aspects. If you are an old vive owner make sure you redeem the $100 on viveport as a loyalty bonus. Also you will get a 12 month free subscription on viveport. There are some great games there like Arizona Sunshine so make sure you get it.

This could be a USB 3 power issue. try to have only the pro on one usb 3 hub to see if it tracks without problems.
I had mine on a hub with my t16000m. The pro had problem tracking only when i was using my joystick. Once i put the joystick on another usb hub, the issue disapeared.

The Vive pro is amazing compared to my DK2 from back in the day. Much more crisp image and more importantly, readable text without having to get point blank to it. Been getting some minor frame issues when around stations that are loaded with trees and or planetary stations that have a crap load of landing pads. But I haven't really messed with any of the graphical settings.

Does anyone have any suggestions for tweaking the graphical settings. I know about ed profiler but haven't kept up with it.

I have been thinking about upgrading myself, after a lot of effort to improve the UI text I still find it blurry with the normal vive, and that seems to irritate my eyes after a few hours as they are always trying to focus on things that cannot be in focus. I have a 1080ti and a good system, I'd make the outlay gladly if I knew I the text was better. It seems to be mainly a product of the Moiré pattern as if you get the pixels aligned with the text it is minimized. Please let me know vive pro users, and thanks in advance.

How is the mic on the pro? I've recently moved from my sennheiser mic (which worked amazingly) to the vive mic (which is a bit finicky) so I don't have to keep taking the headphones off the audio strap. Is the pro mic any better?

Goes through the vive, vive pro, and oddyssey.

To sum up and in my opinion.
All of these microphones are absolute pants.

High noise levels, and exceedingly easy to blow out.

I was honestly thinking of getting a modmic 5 for the pro and just detatching it when I want to go on cockpit walkabouts once wireless becomes a thing...

Text is MUCH better, but only you know how badly it affects you (it's still not perfect)

FYI got mine running again after a couple of weeks, a sending-back to HTC that amounted to nothing, a reinstalling of windows and taking it to a friend's house! Not sure why it suddenly worked in the end but it did.
