Vive Pro Preorders start today..

Ain't buying one of these for a couple of years till gpus catch up. My 1080 and 1080 ti grind to a halt before I even get to full pixel density on a rift.

I can't see these selling much with such a huge price to them. From what I can tell, you are paying a massive amount of money for a small screen res increase.

Oooof! just don't know??? It's a silly price point but I had planned to upgrade. I am a Pimax kickstarter backer and already have a rift and vive, but am always looking for that extra bump in resolution. Am from UK but live most of the time in Saudi - might be cheaper to get it shipped there if possible. Will really need to think on this one... the cost is a bit ridiculous when compared to the Samsung! I think it will come back to bite them!

I put £600 aside for a Vive, I see it's gone sub £500 now, but now throw a curveball...... Do I just sack it off and go pro? The OCD part of me is telling me to go pro, but....... argh decisions decisions....

...here's a tip if you're having issues with Rift performance, do a clean refresh of Windows 10, Nvid Drivers 388.59, then Oculus software, then ED. My GTX 970 now runs ED in VR Medium silky smooth.

Don't forget that the Vive Pro doesn't come with any controllers or lighthouses so you'll need to buy those too, it's a significant increase in cost over the base Vive, let alone the Rift.

Checked and the price IS 799£ in U.K. but £200 cheaper in Saudi! I fly to uk end of the week for two weeks but fly back on the day the vive pro ships! It's not meant to be! They aren't shipping to Saudi, which is weird because they have the price on the website???

Have decided the gods of VR don't want me to buy it just yet, so will wait and see if it becomes available in Saudi. Heck if the Pimax turns out ok I might not even need one! £800 when other countries are paying 1/4 less is just stupid and I refuse to buy it on principle, though if my flight back was a week later... :)

Yeah, and the cheapest way to get the base stations and controllers probably is to buy a regular vive.

I would wait for next generation 4k or 8k 200° FOV.
I am using a Pimax 4k, but it is too heavy for any prolonged flying.
I am not getting any upgrade until ultra wide displays and lighter materials.

pimax 4k is actually lighter than either vive or rift
I doubt the 8k will be lighter!

Supposedly, the 8K is/will-be lighter than the Vive. I'm not sure how it compares to 4K or Rift.

I'm guessing that they are volume-limited on the Pro screens, so they might as well use a high price to limit initial quantities. The price will certainly drop at some point. As a 8K backer, I seen no reason to get a Pro; it's better to just wait.
