Vive Pro story

Price price price! That will make or break this HMD IMO. Oculus did a smart thing last year in realizing that their tech is soon to be replaced by something better and lowering the price accordingly. That puts the pressure on this new Vive, which isn't quite VR 2.0 (maybe 1.5?). If it's truly $799 for the HMD only like the rumors suggest, this thing could be DOA. If it's $500 I might be a customer :D

Yeah that and the other bad rumor is that the hmd only sales will only be through htc. I really like my Vive but htc support is so bad I will never buy anything directly from htc. Once retailers start selling it, if the pricing is right I will gladly upgrade.

Biggest issue I see with the Vive Pro is that it carries over the biggest flaw from the Vive: The lenses. I own both a Vive and a Rift, and prefer the Rift for ED and racing sims because the view is clear throughout most of the FOV. With the Vive, focus deteriorates much too fast when you are not looking straight ahead.

If only somebody would make an HMD with:
- the light weight and comfort of the Rift
- the contrast ratio and tracking of the Vive
- headphones that detach if they are included at all
- both a higher resolution and FOV without the obvious visible fresnel ridges of the Vive
- a view that stays sharp no matter where you are looking, like the Rift
- wireless sensors like the Vive
- breakout box for cables like the Vive (keeping more USB ports free for all the other things I need them for)
- adjustable IPD
- adjustable lens distance to better accomodate glasses (I can wear glasses with the Vive, but I always wear contacts with the Rift)

Right now, no such HMD exists.

True. VR is still in the early stages. What you want should be available in 2-5 years. Right now, you'll have to prioritize and pick the headset which has your most important features. For example, I don't care about detachable headphones; I want a headset that includes decent headphones and a mic, with mute and volume controls on the headset (or cord). I want higher res and a FOV of 150 degrees or more. The Pimax 8K comes closest to what I want, assuming that the final product matches the Kickstarter promises.

Vive with rEvolve addon strap is very comfortable but totall weight HMD+strap is around 1,1 kg. So the weight distribution is more important and pressure on forehead not on face like in Rift..

LG prototype have the best solutions I’ve seen so far.
