VKB Gladiator NXT Evo Omni-Throttle issue

Just had this arrive today. Unfortunately it seems like none of the inputs on the stick itself are working. The inputs on the base register just fine, and it picks up when I tilt the stick. But the twist isn't there and none of the buttons are lighting up in the Game Controllers > Properties window when I press them.

Anyone know of a potential fix, or do I have a dead stick and need to contact VKB?

As Zieman says , connecting the stick to the base correctly is vital. VKB have youtube vids on how to attach the grip and connect it without damaging the cable.

Otherwise, are you talking in game or in the njoy32 config application? Get it workign in njoy32 fiest (so that you can see the physical buttons and axis working). Also be sure to default the stick configurtations etc. And then calibrate (VKB jave a great series of youtube vids about that).
I'd verify things are fuly working in njoy32 before looking to see what works in ED.

Also be aware that ED can only see the forst 32 buttons on a device, It's easy to exceed that limit. There is a VKB vid on setting up multiple virtual controllers to overcome that limit.

Hopefully those hints give you some ideas.

The cable is undamaged and seated correctly as far as I can tell:

I haven't even tried using it in game yet, so I haven't even got as far as assigning in-game functions to this new de. I noticed the issue when I used the "Set up USB game controllers" utility on Windows, but I'm seeing the same issue in the VKB NJoy32 config application. None of the buttons on the stick are lighting up, and the stick twist isn't registering either.

I'd suggest going to the VKBSim Discord then. You should be able to get help to either get the stick working or staff there can get it elevated to a ticket if it's not straightforward.

not that i own said device but i find the possibility of connecting it up incorrectly i find amusing i would have thought it plug n play and the wires can only connect one way🤷‍♂️
from the commnets obviously not however
i do know that xbox controlllers are dammed fiddly to reassemble once taken apart (had to soldier & re terminate a broken cable) lasted another year b4 the dpad pcb finally gave up the ghost and i had to buy a new one it was 25 years old so i shoudnt complain and i orginally found it in a skip to boot
my newer one is about 5 years olds now....... ( being light fingered & unlike some users i dont throw them around when i get killed helps them last methinks)
my little nephew destroyed his in under a year

All I know is that with virpil sticks you have to connect the base (mongoose) to the stick and press it home. Bit fiddly but once it's seated right it works ok. No defo not plug n play. And the cable has to be pulled out slightly to affix to the stick whilst lining up the notch...easily screwed up if u ask me

I submitted a ticket via the manufacturer's website. They got back to me later and told me to use the configuration software to reset the device and flash/calibrate it. This worked for me. I was very confused because my other VKB flight stick worked more or less straight out of the box after assembly.

Now all I have to do is find bindings that work and then re-learn them all. Time to forge that new muscle memory...

OK, nice!
I was just typing a reply, and although your issue has been resolved, it might help someone in the future:

In order to see if the base recognises the grip at all, you can use the "VKBDevCfg" (aka "NJoy32") tool.
  1. Start VKBDevCfg.
  2. In the lower left corner, select the "Global" tab, it's the first one.
  3. Select the "External" tab.
  4. In the lower half of the window, there two tabs: "External devices" and "LEDs".
  5. Under "External devices", you should see the grip as an, well, external device.
  6. In the case of the VKB Gladiator NXT EVO, the grip is called "SCG" ("Space Combat Grip").

If you don't see any external device here, the cable is not connected correctly, has a loose contact, or something is really broken.
