Voice acting - More please!

So long we have relied on text in-game for a lot, and that's fine. I enjoy reading, and have never had an issue with it in any game I have ever played.

However, after hearing some of the incredible voice logs recently added to the game, I cant help but want more.

These logs add a level of depth and atmosphere that you just dont get with only text. Hearing the words being spoken with emotion, plus the cool little sound effects in the background of some of the logs add a layer of immersion for players.

I enjoy hearing the different station announcers and even NPC crew having a voice is a nice touch, but I hope to one day see much more. Things like Galnet articles being read in a journalistic fashion would be nice. Maybe tourist beacons and listening posts, where possible.

I'm not sure of how much work it would be or if it is something that just cant happen for whatever reason, but I would really appreciate this for a future QoL feature. I'm sure the FDev plates are already quite full, and QoL features are probably not much of a priority. Also there are probably a million other things people would prefer to have added first. I just wanted to at least give my opinion that the voice logs are awesome and appreciated, and if it is ever a possibility I would love to see more added please :)

Totally agree. The atmosphere created by those recorded voice logs took us to a totally different level from the StarComm flight controllers in terms of audio.

For a start, all those "ambient" local channel messages could be voice acted. Those pirate lines (Don't try to run etc.), the passenger liners, wedding barges... It wouldn't be that many lines to record and wouldn't need many voice actors either, because the lines could be distorted like radio messages. They would still make the game feel much more alive.

Definitely. Splendid work there! Voice acting would definitely make the world more believable and connected. Do it, FDEV! :)

The voices we have so far have really added to the experience, its been great.
So I'd certainly be happy for this to be expanded out some more.
I imagine we will gradually see this more with time.

Totally agree, adds a huge amount to the game.

Hopefully as time goes on more will be added with a greater variety.

I agree. Voices have a huge effect on how alive/human the Ed galaxy feels. The station announcers, the docking voices etc.. it is all very good and welcome stuff.
I understand there are limits to what you can do in a huge procedurally generated galaxy, but if possible... more voices please.

I just installed TTS4ED yesterday and gave it a test flight - absolutely brilliant - really enjoyed wiping out the nasty Fifer pirate that interdicted me - I might actually try some pew-pew with this enhancement.

Thanks for bringing up TTS4ED, somehow I completely missed this!

As for voiceacting in general, I agree it's a great thing to have. While it doesn't really add anything in terms of gameplay or features, it does immensely help with the atmosphere of the game, and so far everything FD have done in that regard has been outstanding. Station announcers, air traffic control, all these have been really great.

I'd pay for a bit more variety in NPC crew members. The Australian girl, the Scottish guy, the Manchester girl...

While I'd hate to think of the expense and effort required to have voice actors reading all those NPC lines, I'd love it to happen.
Heck if it was done well enough, I'd happily have it as a significant selling point of a season much as planetary landings was for season 2.

On my personal wish list would be station announcers reading the local station news as you dock and of course, an audio version of Galnet.

And how about a little democratization? Players could record their speak according to an input mask provided by Frontier. They pick the best for the game - infinite variety! I can do a thick German accent...

I've been impressed by the voice acting as well. It does add a lot of atmosphere to the game. Here's hoping for more in the future!

It really is a great addition. It actually amazed me how much difference the station voices made to the game. So yeah completely agree with that and maybe also add some people walking around the station buildings but definitely the more voice acting the better.
