Voice Attack and speech recognition

Hello fellow commanders,

does anyone else have problems with certain words to get recognized correctly?
i've trained the speech recognition engine 3 times now and even tried to dictate and correct those words but they still won't get recognized well.
example: a single "vulcan" (father can.... how does vulcan sound like father?) or "enable" almost never gets recognized correctly...
Anyone got some tips for that problem?

Yes, what I did to solve this is to always use two words command. Work flawlessly after using voice attack for a while. It seems to understand better. Also, if you have problem with a word, change it to another.

sound it out phonetically.

Vul kin - in able

This helps when VA just won't recognize what I want to say. Done speech recog. 4 times now. They need a specific word trainer function

It might also be worth checking your mic levels, and boost levels if your driver has them.

My mic works best with the recording volume set at about 50% and the driver boost at 20%, as opposed to just setting the recording volume around 70% and boost to zero. Increase either value seems to add funny words in, or drop words or generally not work...

Windows does have a word trainer, and talking about it was part of the speech training on my 8.1 machine. You simply go into notepad and say the word you want. when it doesnt come up correctly, you use voice recognition to edit it, and this changes is rolled up into the training.
