Voice Attack - Navigate Panels

Let me know what you think :)

Nice work. I had been playing with something like this, but had removed it because for some reason it would skip around a lot, even with high delay numbers and no lag. It got to be more of a nuisance than a help. I'm guessing the tab switching must be even longer than normal interactions. I'll import yours and try it out again. I do so wish that they'd make it so you couldn't go left past the first tab, it would make things so much cleaner to program, and I don't think anything else wraps like that in the interfaces.

The best thing that could happen is they give us individual mappings for the different panels that would make it a breeze!!!

The way i did it is to just use next or back, it would certainly be quicker to go from the 5th to the first tab by going forward, might help cut down the lag too.

will have to delve deeper and see if its possible to do calculations such as adding and subtracting a value to a condition.

though my script does not do that it just checks what panel is currently set and then goes forward or back to the next, i will play some more with it, i dont think i am doing it the most efficient way, i think i can find a better way to do it, this was my first go at it, but i think with the conditions we should be able to do some pretty advanced stuff, i have a lot of functions mapped to button so i only need the voice for minimal stuff, i dont want to go to overboard with it, but the panel thing is quite useful

Hi there

I've been tinkering around with the beta version of voice attack, which allows you to use conditional statements.

It basically means you can add logic to your voice commands.

Ive set up a control set where you can say the panel name to open it, regardless of what other panel you are on, it works for the most part but occasionally it will be a tab short.

The panel sets are:
Right Panel: Navigation (tab1) Missions (Tab2) Contacts (Tab3) Sub Targets (Tab4) Cargo Scan (Tab5)

Left Panel: Status (tab1) Modules (Tab2) Fire Groups (Tab4 Cargo (Tab5) Functions (Tab6)

To use it make sure both panels left and right are set to the first tab and initialise by saying "Reset Panels"
(you can also use this to reset if they get messed up, just make sure that the left and right panels are on the Navigation and Status Tabs)

When you are docked the Sub Targets and Cargo Scan panels on the left side are in-active.

So that things don't mess up once you are docked say "Docked" and this will disable those tags in Voice Attack.

When you are back in flight Say "Launched" to re-enable them.

Its not perfect sometimes you end up being a tab short, especially if you are going from the right panel to the left panel.

But you can go from Navigation on the right panel and jump directly to any of the right panels.

There is a half second delay between the panel switches, i had to put this in as it caused a lot of misjumps to the tabs.

YOU NEED TO HAVE THE BETA VERSION OF VOICE ATTACK TO USE THIS PROFILE!!!! you can download it from the voice attack site and register it with the same key you use for the normal version.

Click here to get the profile from my DropBox.

Let me know what you think :)

So basically as demonstrated in the first post of this thread? :S

note: I'm sure other/better(?) solutions exist, so please do feel free to post them :)

Not to discount what you've explained, but the easiest way to "look forward" is to focus on comms panel and then close it. Since the comms panel is in the front view, the moment you focus on it, your viewport is centered. And once there, it's always the same key to lose focus from comms.

Yeah, it will "blink" but that's acceptable.

Hey! That's an interesting one! So simply issue the comms panel key twice!

I'll try that! That could mean no variables are require at all which is a better way of doing things!

Does anyone use the radar focus key? I can't see how it's really that much use. It should be mapped to the main view imo. But the comms focus is pretty smart. Shows there's a number of ways to solve a problem.

The script by the OP opens the relative left, right comms, panels and returns you to the front. as you can see in the video.

What my script does is much more in depth.

It actually takes you to a specific tab in the left/right panels.

Ive just updated it, its much quicker now and takes the shortest route possible to activate the chosen tab, i've also added a feature for auto requesting docking permissions.

i have created a separate thread where you can find out more info

Cool! Can I ask what happens if you manually move between a tab? Does that throw it off? And if different tabs appear at different times?

My gut feeling for VA is, the less variables it uses, the better, as they can (will) get out of sync with what they represent IMHO. And also create a head ache if/when ED changes.

Yeas if you switch tabs manually it will go out of sync, it can be pretty easily corrected by reopening the panel and then switching to the correct tab.

Unfortunately theres no way i know of actually recording the keystrokes in-game, if there was some way to do this, then maybe it could be kept in sync, but i dont think its anything that VA can do.

I use this quite a lot, and i don't find it necessary to use the actual keys for opening tabs, this works pretty well 90% of the time, I just do trading though, so for pirates and bounty hunters that switch panels a lot, it might not be so useful, best way is to try it out, and see what you think.

Thinking about it a little further....
I have seen an option in VA where you can run a command on a key stroke, so it might be possible to update the variables when certain keys are pressed, though this might be difficult to do particularly if you have joystick buttons mapped to functions, i don't think VA would be able to read those.

Its something i will look into.

Don't know if I'm missing the point or misunderstand what is trying to be done here.

But in my ED option I have set UI FOCUSE MOD = HOLD

Then with voiceattack I say "LEFT" and it push "1" for me to bring up the left menu.

When I say "cancel" I have voiceattack push left shift as configured in the UI PANEL FOCUS = LEFT SHIFT

This will always bring me back to the main view from any menu anywhere.

As long as the tabs wrap and there's no set key bind for one of them, there's not going to be a foolproof way to be sure of a reset if lag or something gets things out of sync.

Hi - conditions - nice, I did not know they have this one coming - thx

The way I use VA, when I say "Comms" it presses 1 and when I say "comms off" it presses 1, so it works OK, am I missing something? :)

This is exactly what I do, so quick, so simple. No need for complicated macros.

I say "nav menü", to switch i say "sensor menü" etc, to look again forward i say menü fokus. Or is say headlock and look to the desired panel. Back to front again "menü fokus" or i look forward and say headlock again (i switch it to "main view", menü focus sounds a bit odd to me).

Great find and well worth the money too! Much sexier voice than using TTS with the default MS one.

Theres a good guide here on the star citizen forums on how to install additional microsoft voices for tts on windows 7 x64 >>>HERE<<<<

I use the anna voice it pretty good for a free one, i would invest in a more sexy one, though i dont like paying for sexy...

To navigate to and from the panels, I use the following:

Navigation panel:
Say - Left
Action - Press 1 for 0.02sec

Systems Panel:
Say - Right
Action - Press 3 for 0.02sec

Back to front View:
Say - Heads Up
Action - Press 2 for 0.02sec, Press 2 for 0.02sec

What I REALLY REALLY want is a bindable key that resets a side panel to a home position. So I can setup VoiceAttack controls that navigate the panel, starting from a 'known' home position. For example "Docking Request" or "Engines Off"

My Script has now been updated and does this, Theres a voice command "Request Docking" that does all that for you.

It now includes keyboard syncing. so you can mix voice commands with keyboard commands and it will keep track of what tab in what panel is set.

so if you use the keyboard to do something VA now tracks it so that it does not open the wrong panels

See my thread here
